Where the hell did you even get the idea that it's tweened?
What you see is pure FBF.

You could've saved space and done it on a single frame. Layed on the onion skin and of made way with it.

Anyway, the only thing I see faulty with this is his right leg doesn't move forward quick enough. It stays suspended in the air for 1 or 2 frames too long. Also, his arms should move in correspondance to his legs. Right leg, left arm and vice versa.

Funny isn't it... Curiosity killed the cat, but throwing it out of an airbourne plane doesn't.

Terminal velocity FTW!

To the OP when you step left your left side goes up but right arm forward so you twist a little , try and recreate that , also the feet shouldnt go thaty high

You didnt use tweens but I wouldnt exactly call this fbf animation - people usually refer to frame by frame as drawing each frame manually, rather than moving each movieclip every frame.

The movement looks good but as other people have said it still looks a little jittery and stiff. Its really hard to make a run cycle look natural without (my definition of) fbf. It allows for little details like flapping cloth, little things like this give an animation a lot more feeling.

Saying that its still a nice walk animation, if its only gonna be onscreen for a few seconds of a movie I wouldnt sweat more time over it.

Unless youre aiming for perfection that is ;)

It's absurd that people are whiling to call this frame by frame animation. You may as well have tweened the whole thing.

If you would stop being lazy and actually took the time to draw each state of the run cycle then it would look 10x better than it does now. The reason why I thought it was tweened is because it appears as if you have merely segmented your soldier into symbols and pasted them into something like a run cycle.

You're missing out on all of the subtleties that could make this really work, like the twisting of the torso - some cradling of the rifle, etc.

That's my advice.

Here the final product (for now).

The human head does not pitch up and down while running. It may bob somewhat, but instinctivly, your body tries to keep the inner ear level to the ground. If you want though, you can keep the piching motion for the helmet, which does happen to boot ass soldiers who forget to tighten their schinstrap.

Still a bit jerky. I'd slow it down, and the legs shoot around kind of fast. So, I'd just say add more inbetweens.

Please scout me for the art portal!

I wouldn't worry about it. Even if the main focus is on this guy they aren't going to think "eww he has a jerky run" and if they do they are losers and care to much. Besides he has 20-50 pounds of gear on, he wouldn't run like a normal dude.

I'm guessing you broke the body into parts and moved those parts as needed correct?
It's a good method if you don't want to do a lot of work, though I would touch up on the art a little more.

-look at the Intruder series; he animated it like this-
