"Computing and communicating through the Web makes it virtually impossible to leave the past behind. College Facebook posts or pictures can resurface during a job interview; a lost or stolen laptop can expose personal photos or messages; or a legal investigation can subpoena the entire contents of a home or work computer, uncovering incriminating or just embarrassing details from the past."

So, government hackers have developed a program that can let you set a time limit to your file accessibility on the internet.

It works like this, a girl posts a naked picture of his-herself on face book or myspace, she can set a time limit to how long it stays there and people can view it.
When the time limit is up, them POOF the file "self-destructs" meaning nobody can view it any longer.

personally I think this is a huge save for any post camera scene whore girls.

See picture, save picture. I doubt that it could affect the actual picture...

And if it did, copy and paste picture into paint, and save.

That's why I've been trying to nuke the posts I had on 2006 and 2007, and even the first few months of 2008. I don't want people to know I asked "what the hell is pot?"

Personally, I wish things from online would be considered worthless in real life, especially what you did as a kid.

That would obviously simply aggravate the amount of trolls and dicks there are on the internet.

Ditto.

I was a stupid kid when I started going on Newgrounds, looking back I can only hang my head in shame. I seriously hope nobody would hold anything I say against me, but odds are they would.

If you use it the government knows what you're doing and probably why you did it.

This looks like a good and very useful piece of software. I hope that the researchers are able to get a working prototype out soon.

The government has hackers now?
Surely they arent hacking if they're working for the government, "hacking" generally implies some level of illegality.

Exactly.

How is this going to work if someone sees the picture on the internet and then saves it? It will only be deleted from the internet, not from that persons computer.

So, technically sure, you're getting privacy on the 'web', but your picture could still be saved to someones computer and then re-uploaded.

Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life.
