We have a laptop in our house, it's about 6 years old. It's running windows xp currently, and I was thinking of installing Seven on it instead. Would windows 7 run on a computer that can run XP, or does it have the same software requirements as vista?

Tweeter and the Monkey Man were hard-up for cash, they stayed up all night selling cocaine and hash.

It has slightly higher requirements than Vista, chances are it will not run unless you bought a supercomputer 6 years ago. Since it's a 6 year old laptop I doubt it is. Ram is particularly a problem.

But post your system specs if you can find them. Right click on My Computer, hit properties, tell me how much RAM you have, tell me as much as it tells you about your CPU, and I'll tell you how much you've failed to get the min specs by.

Chances are pretty high that won't be able to run Windows 7.

Sorry if I didn't say this, but I don't know what the specs of the laptop are. How do I check on XP?

I doubt your computer would it, laptops generally don't have enough ram. Especially 6 year old ones.

Actually Windows 7 can run on really really terrible old computers.
I can't remember what version.
