I can't find any answers on what is a worse instrument with damaging your ears; those recently (past decade) marketed "in-ear" earphones or the normal earphones that are packaged with most mp3 players these days.

The popularity of in-ear earphones has been high recently, and I am surprised at the low number of studies I can find on the interwebz.

I used some logic. With "in-ear" earphones there is more sound going directly to your ear drum, yet there is more noise cancellation around you persuading you to have a lower volume. On the other hand, normal earphones there is less sound going directly to your ear, yet there is more psychologically more noise around you.

Can you help me out Newgrounds? I really think I am harming my ears by excessive use of earphones.

It's the volume, not the earphones that damage your ears.

You lose that hearing forever by the way... for every loud buzzing sound in your head is one more lost sound you will never have again.

You also might not want to listen to songs with a loud and heavy bass. Because If you do, it could actually make your lungs collapse. I forget what the condition is called, though :P

Yeah, its the psychological noise that will destroy your hearing.

Pretty sure that won't happen from earphones, which is the discussion of this topic. I don't doubt that this can happen from standing next to some really fucking awesome speakers.

This is filler text.

That was a very poorly constructed sentence and I'm tired.
