Are alternative accounts allowed?

I always see people with altern accounts, or whatever they're called. Are they allowed? I know they're not to get around a ban, but if I'm not banned, then can I?

I'll probably lazy out of even attempting to make one anyway, or even finding a purpose of doing so. But I'm just curious.

You can have them, but you can't use them to get around bans on primary accounts (or alt accounts :o)

I don't see how your analogy fits this situation, as an alt account doesn't cost anything to make.

And alt accounts seem to be generally frowned upon because they are used primarily to get around bans - but if you are trying to do something beneficial, like create a cool database on an alt account's userpage, then I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be allowed.

It doesn't get you banned unless you're using it to get around a ban on any of your accounts.

That includes using a unbanned main while banned as an alt.

In a word: Yes.

The only exceptions are:
Using them to get around bans (or the 4-post limit, in most cases);
Creating accounts with duplicate names of mods or regulars in an attempt to impersonate them;
Making obvious joke / gimmick accounts, like the BBS rules tell you not to (i.e. posting in a politics thread with an alt name like 'BushSucked' or something equally dumb like that).

Other than that, I'm pretty sure you can do what you like with alts so long as none of them get banned.

I think if you gain intellectual stimulation from the act of posting, and by genuine stimulation I mean interaction with like-minded people under no false pretenses of who is who, then being on Newgrounds could actually be a boon to certain aspects of education. Certainly, there are aspects which it could be argued pose a threat to intellectual well-being on the site, namely some discussions on the general forum. I have seen it said that time spent on this site is inversely proportional to mental well-being, however, I do think there's something to be said for the community fostered here, no matter how bad it may seem. I am of the opinion that the shape of the curve is something closer to parabolic:

I have two other alt accounts....personally I think I'll level them really high (if I can be fucked logging in all of them daily...I'm a busy person,) then I might give them to some friends to have..provided account giving away IS allowed...

This information is faulty. You may have alt accounts, only if you don't break any site rules with them. The information is faulty you do not need mod approval to make the alternate account. So if a mod thinks that you making an alternate account is wrong, oh well. There is nothing on this site that says you cannot have an alt. It is the actions that you, yourself do with Your alts that get judged to be right or wrong.

Having an alt doesn't break any rules, but using the alt to break rules, is a different story.
