I am working on a project and i am totally stuck on the last part. We have to relate parts of cells to cars, ex: the mitochondria is like an engine, it makes the power... In a cell, a ribosome produces protiens, which are vital for the cell to function properly. How does a ribosome relate to a specific part of a car? Help... or at least a hint would be appreciated. I just don't know that much about cars. Thanks!

The body kit, it will make the car look more like it's been worked on.
COMMENT HERE, DAMMIT. What the fuck are all these Rucklos doing in my locked thread?- Poozy Some advice would be strongly appreciated.

You can't.
Cars don't grow, produce enzymes or any of that stuff. It's not the same thing.
God forbid I want an image in my sig that isn't a 2px thick horizontal line

"the 'ribosome in a car' produces CO2 which is very good for the environment. plants breathe that shit"
feel free to copy/paste all of the above. no credit needed.

Does the cell use protein to power its "engine"?
If so, then just make the Ribosome the fuel tank, with the protein being the fuel.
I know fuel tanks don't produce gasoline like ribosomes produce protein, but they both carry the substance used for powering the "engine".

You are saying I can't relate a ribosome to a part of a car? Well it has been done before, this is not the first time the teacher assigned this. Everthing else has been simple. Nucleus-computer, Chloroplast-Solar panels, Mitochondria-engine, Cell wall-doors..... etc etc. I just need help with ribosome

Hey Mr. Ass, I am not asking for you do do my homework. You obviously didn't take time to read my whole post.
Oh and Timmy, thanks, that helped a bit. It's a good lead.

How about the fuel pump? The gasoline (protien) gets pumped into the engine by the fuel pump... I dunno

Okay, list out the parts of the cell and the parts of the car which you allocated to them.
Like so; Cell nucelous = engine Mitochondria = spark plugs Cell membrane = the cars exoskeleton etc.
Its just so we see what you've allocated already.

I daresay badly.
Everthing else has been simple.
They are all just over-simplifications.
Nucleus-computer
No. I can see that it regulates parts of the car, as a nucleus does to a cell, but the physical nucleus is mainly DNA. I can't see how you would relate DNA to a car computer.
Ribosomes produce proteins. What would a protein be in a car? There's no simile.

Oil maybe, I'm just throwing it out there.

Ribosomes and oil! That's it! Because ribosomes make protein, and the cell uses protein for almost everything to run smoothly, and oil keeps everything in a car working!
I think.....
A man at a lumberyard accidentally cuts off all his fingers. Doctor: "I can't help you without the fingers, did you bring them?" Man: "I tried but I couldn't pick them up!"

I would also go with oil. It's medium in a car which allows other parts to work more efficiently. Just like the protein transfusion within a cell.
I think...

The alternator? Cars and cells are nothing like each other.
