I think it is just so you ca find people from Newgrounds on facebook.

NG has always hated myspace because it has been associated with attention whoring - and on its surface NG despises attention whores. It's debatable whether, deep down, this claim of "hating attention whores" is actually accurate, but that issue is best saved for another time.

This hatred for myspace has, unfortunately, carried over into the newer social networking site Facebook. Whether Facebook promotes the same amount of attention whoring is questionable, but I'm fairly certain the hatred for the site is a left-over from the myspace hatred.

It's like this: the Internet is for connecting with new people, not people you could just call on the damn telephone. That and of course porn, neither of which should ever reveal your true identity to anyone but a merchant selling you something (usually porn). Facebook drags reality into the Internet, bringing with it everything I hate about real life without any of the interesting stuff. I, personally, come to the Internet to avoid real life, just like I play video games to do things I couldn't physically do. Facebook, however, emphasizes real life rather than creating any kind of other world.

Oh, and everyone I know who does a lot of Facebook is a mega-douche. I look around me in the computer center at school, and all the douchebags are on Facebook, hogging computers with conversations they could have on the telephone.

actually, it depends. I got 447 friends, and it's been only like three months since I started facebook. I'm very social and friendly (i have friends in all the social cliques ranging from the preps and emos (very few emos) all the way to the gangstas and punk-rockers). I'm even pretty cool with the loners and the nerds. Plus, I live in a fairly small town, that has only 2 public highschools and 1 private highschool. This means more mutual friends (in the 200's). I also have a handful of friends from work, and some friends from when I lived in Nigeria. My friends list grows at a fairly reasonable rate. And I know basically everyone on my list (save for at most 15 ppl whom I'm friends with because they invited me because we have so many mutual friends so its very likely we will meet soon in life).

PS. Please NG community, no friend requests. I prefer to have ppl that I could actually know offline =)

People find it easier to express themselves through text rather than voice communication, maybe they're too shy to talk socially to a particular person over the phone. Being able to build that relationship through text chat is much easier.

That doesn't mean thats what everyone else is supposed to do too though. I'm guessing you're not a very sociable person yourself, maybe you don't understand what it's like to have a lot of friends. Forgive me if im wrong.

I don't hate Facebook as a whole. I realize that it can be fun and useful. But I do, however hate the average "Facebooker" Not all people on Facebook are mentally retarded. It just so happens that the stupid ones are also attention whores.
Same kind of reason why people have an aversion to Newgrounds. People say we're lowly, socially inadequate virgins that have an extremely sick sense of humor. But, while we do have, as a whole, one of the "sickest" senses of humor on the whole internet, Newgrounders on average, get more ass than any other message board.

I use facebook daily, I don't hate it. It's how I talk about things with my friends when I'm not in school.

I like facebook. It's simple and easy (Even though people say otherwise, it actually really is). Myspace has like five-thousand buttons and drop-down menus on the home page, it's just like, where do I go?

Yeah I agree. Facebook is awesome. Myspace has so much shit all over the place and then you go to click on someone's page and they're background is flashing like crazy and they have a retarded song playing.

I don't hate it, I just have no reason to use it.

Because everyone knows that Newgrounds and social life are not compatible.
