you know, people demonize socialism all, the time, especially us americans. I DONT FUCKING GET IT? Whats wrong with socialism? Its an economic system where the government owns the stuffs, opposite to capitalism. So people are like, Obamas gonna make us socialist, La di da! YOU KNOW WHAT? SOCIALISM WORKS! Anyways, public schools, healthcare, and police stations, are basically socialism. The healthcare reform makes us pay less for healthcare!

Because people should be rewarded for the hard work they do. If wealth is distributed, people who actually work get paid just as much as someone who doesn't work hard. Does that make any sense? There is no incentive for innovation or productivity. If people knew they wouldn't get anything for inventing something or thinking of a new way to do something, they probably wouldn't do it. Socialism just won't work.

Socialism is when the government controls the m.o.p., but the people vote on what they should be used to create and/or research.

The people calling Obama are 99.99% Conservatives, and extremists at that. That being said, they hate change, anything good happening to the country that they didn't think of, and they'd hate to lose all the money their making from businesses right now.

Either argument in it's absolute form will fail or cause a shitload of poverty and disease. Allowing businesses to take advantage of capitalism works, but poor people sometimes have to rely on a certain level of socialism in the form of welfare or unemployment entitlements and public healthcare.

One example, I've been told by a doctor it's too dangerous for me to work to I rely on a pension(socialism) and a prescription subsidy(socialism), which is paid through taxes(socialism) from businesses(in my country, capitalism) and people who work and can earn as much money as they want(capitalism). This way I have a decent quality of life, albeit with less money than my neighbours.

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy getting paid by the capitalist system as much as any other guy, but the system purposely fucks up everything to make a profit.

How the fuck does capitalism have to do with global warming? Any society can produce enough greenhouse gases, and it isn't even proven if humans are causing global warming or not.

The recession started when the government took control of the banks and forced them to give loans out to everyone, thus amounting in tons of bad loans causing the recession. That is NOT capitalism, that is socialism.

Market crashes are going to happen no matter what, any society. Socialism is not immune to this.

I'm a socialist. And yes, it is an ideal - I'd love to live in a country where the government was socialist, but I can't see it happening anytime soon..

I used to go to socialist meet ups etc but the guy in charge kept ringing me and it became creepy.
