I'm sure Sony has a clause in their Terms of Use that says use the service in a responsible manner. This all depends on what he was doing of course, but he still needs to be aware of his idiocy.

a) Make some money from Sony in an out of court settlement
b) Drum up enough publicity to sell his story and thus make some money.
