I thought W@W was the worst.
I was really hyped for it because it was being developed by Trayarch.
IMO, Trayarch should have stayed out of CoD and just made their own FPS game, then they would have avoided all the negative critisism from all the CoD2&4 fans.

I agree, actually. Call of Duty 3 is my favorite game in the entire Call of Duty series. I don't know why, I just find it more enjoyable to play than the others. I like the whole series, but in all honesty, I enjoyed CoD3 most.

Maybe it's cause I played it on the PS2 and all the others on the PC or PS3, but I didn't really like it that much.

It felt cinematic, sure. But the gameplay seemed kind of lackluster. The set-pieces weren't as impressive as they were in previous games, and the Polish tank missions were some of the worst vehicle sections in any game ever. Maybe the COD formula had just started to get stale by 3, and needed Modern Warfare to spice it up a bit.

It is probably one of the worst in the series, I think.

The problem with the game is that its so mind-crushingly boring. The whole driving a jeep though the European village mission, is probably the worst point of the game. The gameplay, for some reason, just felt repetitive and it only took me 20-25 minutes in to the game to realise this.

I also agree with Centurion-Ryan, there were no memorable set-piece in the game, unlike COD2 which had plenty. I fucking HATE that game and I'm still pissed that I payed £39.99 for it.

I didn't like it because it didn't feel any different from CoD2, except it has more cutscenes - so it's a bit more cinematic. Ever since CoD3, WWII games for me just went downhill.

Dunno why Treyarch made another WWII game after Modern Warfare.

Also, it's most likely CoD7 will be in Vietnam! Yay! Pungi Sticks!

I liked CoD 3, especially the story in the single player.

I have never played the original or Big Red One so I have no idea on those, but Call of Duty 2 was great, if not amazing. Call of Duty 3 was boring and dull. Call of Duty 4 was revolutionary breathing new life into the FPS genre of gaming, World at War was a reskinned and badly done remake of Call of Duty 4.

It was by no means the worst game in the series (that was Call of Duty: Finest Hour by a long shot), but it wasn't the best, either. It was probably the worst released on the 7th gen consoles, though.

Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War were pieces of programming shit.

Call of Duty 2 astounded me the most along with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in ANY video game ever. I was actually feeling an adrenaline rush and a placebo Soviet "patriotism" every time I charged towards German defenses along with my comrades while the men roared as they ran to overrun the enemy.

"All Ghillied Up" completely changed my views of a cinematic gaming experience. WOW that level still astounds me every time I think of it. Every level in Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4 is worth replaying on veteran every time. Both games were masterpieces.

And when I get Call of Duty: Classic along with my Hardened addition, I'll enjoy the root of Infinity Ward's legacy.

Now that you mention it, 'All Ghillied Up' and 'One Shot, One Kill' were better than anything in W@W or 3.

Cod 1 + its expansion has the most weapons out of any cod. Its an amazing feat.

For me, the problem with World at War and Modern Warfare is that they're only fun if you're good at them.

When I died in Call of Duty 3, I shrugged it off.

When I die in Modern Warfare or World at War, I shout obscenities. A seizure usually follows.

I think it's because I found 4 to be shit, and World at War is about MP40s solely.

I don't understand why WaW is so much disliked. US campaign might be a bit boring, but the graphics were phenominal and the music was just awesome. Soviet campaign was great and epic, especially the ending. The great gameplay is the same as CoD 4 AND it has flamethrowers and tanks in this one, so... I don't get it.

That's the point. It has tanks and flamethrowers in the MULTIPLAYER. If it would've stayed only on the first player campaign and co-op, then it would've been fine, but those 2 are what make CoD 5 extremely fristrating to play. Also, fuck that MP40 + Juggernaut combo. Then you get little kids challenging you one on one because you tell them to play like real men and use other perks besides steady aim and juggernaut.
