At my school they call halloween "character day" But they call Christmas Christmas.
A lot of peoples around where I live are Christian. I'm the only atheist I know.

You know, how your school never forced you to spout bullshit that you never believed in?

My first school (in England) made us pray before we ate. They had Christians come round and give us presentations about Jesus. My middle school had a similair thing where the Gideons came round and handed out the book of psalms to us all, and while they didn't 'make' us take it, they did imply that not doing so would be frowned upon.

How about that you could easily insult religion without an army of evangelists turning up on your door and trying to convert you? Even better, how you get NO ONE coming around to your door randomly trying to convert you?

Are you kidding? I used to get Jehovah's around all the time telling me about how great paradise is. And as for insulting religion, do you really want to try that considering the massive amount of aggressively fundamentalist Muslims there are in England?

If 'other religions have a problem with it' they should GTFO because they are obviously too ungrateful to be out of the shithole that spawned their religion to conform to little nuances in US society

That is irrelevant.

1) America was not founded on those religions.
2) Those religions are false.

Go plz kindly take a logic class somewhere else.

ok first let me say, generally speaking to the Original Post of this Thread, every trouble maker in school doesnt want to stand up to the pledge, just to be annoying mostly, and they also like to fixate on the "under God" part. let me say, it IS just a saying, especially at this point. Heres a bulletpoint

- God has become a set part of our speech as westerners due to our ancestors convictions therein. We say oh jesus christ, god get me out of this, jesus this sucks, etc.

- "God" doesnt have to be a christian god, it is simply what some old white dudes wrote down for their conception of what is the bigger picture of mans exsistance, god can be GOD, god can be GODS, god can even be the odd things that just happen to work out in life, the chaos theory could be god, who the fuck knows

- the pledge itself, when i was in highschool i didnt stand, not to be annoying, just because i didnt, but uhh, you know, i still find it ridiculous that students have to pledge to their country every day, but, look at the bright side, most countries have mandatory enlistment in the armed forces, you guys.....have to say a paragraph, life tough sunshine.

so in summation, i disagree with the pledge itself, more than the under god part.

[ I pledge allegiance, to whoever keeps me from getting shot, one nation amongst other nations, under the sky, divisible by war and famine, for liberty and justice, for some [ mostly the rich ]

You're a fucking moron, all or most of the founding father's HIGHLY criticized the bible and knew that to form a new nation they needed to stay as far away from religion as possible, they spoke highly for seperation of church and state.

on to the issue as a whole. Religion is a completely spiritual medium, the feelings people have about their religion as well as other religions is completely dependent upon themselves. Obviously you might not care about this if you have don't strong faith in another religion but how would you feel if you had to pledge to a flag which symbolizes a nation which doesn't support your religion?

Well let's see. Christianity is centered around the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God who died for our sins. Other religions focus on other things and worship false gods. They are inspired by Satan.

Anyone else here need a lesson in logic?

Yeah, some one (I forgot who) said that the US should keep church and state (government) serperate.

I disagree. Most of the founding fathers were Anglican and had a general view of religious freedom, but not necessarily criticism of the Bible. Some, such as Thomas Jefferson suggested that everyman should question God. Some viewed religious freedom as freedom of denomination, some as complete freedom.

Some had strikingly opposing views on what the nation was founded on. Such as John Adams, who did not feel the country was founded on Christianity, while Patrick Henry did.

I do believe that Christianity had a very strong influence in the founding of America.
