Hey there Ng'ers.
As promised, a long time ago, I have some new music to upload.
This is dubstup.
Some of you may known what it is, and how good it can be. There is no official category to put it into in the audio portal.
My question is, what category is getting the most Dubstep uploaded into it?

I think drum n bass would be a good place to put it.

MMM, i thought about that aswell. It's just really one of those genres that passes through DnB and other electric genres.

It's your choice, the only people going to slate you for it are the people who don't know what dubstep is. Also known as, idiots.

Can't wait to hear it though.

"Recently, smaller scenes within the drum and bass community have developed and the scene as a whole has become much more fractured into specific sub-genres. The generally accepted and major sub-genres of drum and bass include:

* Dancefloor (often referred to tracks that combine Jump-Up and Liquid funk.)
* Darkstep (or "Darkside" or "Dark", the return of the old skool sound of Drum and bass made with new technology - Equinox, Breakage ext)
* Drum & Bass step (or Halfstep is half beat drum and bass often confused with Dubstep.)
* Drumfunk (or "Choppage", "Edits")
* Hardstep
* Intelligent (or "Atmospheric" or "Ambient")
* Jazzstep (or "Jazz and Bass")
* Jump-Up
* Liquid funk (or simply "Liquid")
* Sambass (or "Brazilian Drum and Bass")
* Techstep (or "Tech")
* Techno-DNB (or "Techno Drum and Bass")
* Neurofunk (or "Neuro" is the progression from Techstep)
* Drill and Bass"
-Drum and Bass - Wikipedia

Well then. You learn something everyday. Did not know that. I truly thought that Dubstep was a sub-genre of DnB. haha.

It's more of a sub genre of Dub music, which originated from Reggae

Well, i dunno dubstep has more in common with dnb than hip hop...
But shit me not, it does have hip-hop influences, especially from artists like joker and plastician.

I say this because dubstep tends to have a heavy reliance on sub-bass and heeeeavy basslines, which is very similar to drum n bass in that regard. Although the drum 'patterns' and melodies which most producers follow do draw heavily on reggae, 2-step, garage and hip-hop (sometimes glitch), depending on the dubstep 'style' they are trying to get across. I can quote people on saying that it has influences from tech house aswell, just look up 'dubstep documentry' on youtube.

With dubstep being a recently formed genre, there are still many areas of the sound where people have not yet ventured into. My fav style of dubstep at the mo is the sort of minimal/ambient style stuff, coming from artist like 16 bit and distance.

In short, i submit mine to the drum n bass genre here at ng, not because of my reasons above, but because I think the people who linger in the drum n bass genre of ng will appreciate my dubstep the most... (also me being a dnb head myself)

Yeahhh.. if I were to recommend new genres here...

I'd like to see a category for dubstep, psytrance, and for breaks.

That way it's that much easier to scout for awesome new tunes here =D
