A long while ago I remember playing this old tower defense game that I can't recall the name of anymore.

It took place in a space setting and you'd set up power stations, mining stations, and defense turrets among asteroids. You had to maintain lines to make sure power was being supplied to each station. Pirates would come from every direction in waves of varying type. With exception of the asteroids the graphics were pretty low key. The ships and most of the stations mostly consisted of colored shapes.

Anyone remember what this game was called and where I can find it now?

What you describe sounds a whole lot like an old favorite of mine, The Space Game, but be advised that the NG version seems to be broken. A reviewer suggests playing the game here instead.

Is this answer satisfactory? Or is there yet another similar game that you are looking for?

A pleasure to be of service.

Dunno. Perhaps the author isn“t maintaining it properly?

Any review mods around with the knowledge and will to give a definite answer to this question? It seems like your area of operations more than anyone elses.

Since the game is loaded externally, that would most likely be the source of the problem.
There are a variety of things which could have gone wrong, but I would put my bets on the idea that they changed the name of the file on their website.

Put simply, say that the file used to be called 'game.swf'. When The Space Game is opened on a site like Newgrounds, that website looks for the file in a certain place of the Casual Collective website. It then loads that file into the browser you're on, and you're set!
But if they renamed the file to something else, say 'spacegame.swf', then you're stuck. The game on Newgrounds looks for 'game.swf', but can't find it. So it just gets stuck.

I presume that to be the case, and they updated the version on their website to look for the new file. I doubt it to be much else as it isn't working on any other website (excluding the CC one), and the other games that they have put on Newgrounds which load the file externally like this one work fine (so they haven't blocked the Newgrounds domains).

Either way, zephiran already pointed out where you could play it, so enjoy!

Doomsday-One, working on stuff better than preloaders. Marginally.

An Explanation!

Ah, thanks. That was much appreciated

Also note that there is a form of "sequel" present on Newgrounds, Raileks; The Space Game: Missions, if you absolutely, positively got to play the game on this site. xP
