I've been working on this game of mine for absolutely forever now. I'm doing a lot of the work myself so it's taking a while (it's a multi-level platformer game that spans across several unique levels each with it's own boss, i wanted to create something as close to console games as i could without going overboard).
It's about 75% finished, the physics are totally there with only some minor bugs, pretty much all the art is done, and i've finished 3/7 levels in the game. All that's left is to just lay out the remaining levels and balance everything to a coherent difficulty arc, and of course, GET IT SCORED.
i've been trying since the early stages to get someone stable that can put something together. Its been a mess. I even wrote out my own theme tune for the character to try and help a couple guys along and still either nothing got done or the work that got done wasn't really what i was looking for.
I'm gonna need something fairly adventurous and sleek, that has a lot of fun action and is somewhat wild without being to heavy. The other big stepping stone is that I'd like it to be fairly steampunk, if that makes any sense.
The game is about a way over-the-top thief who generally gets away with whatever he wants through his skills in acrobatics, no sense of self safety, and in a lot of cases sheer dumb luck. It's set in a fantasy world filled with airships and sky-pirates and flying cities. There's no magic, it's all pulled off through Medieval machinery, (think lots of gears, fans, pulleys, hense the steampunk theme)
Generally speaking, imagine the game play something akin to Prince of Persia meets Sonic the Hedgehog.
If you think your up to the task, I wanna get to work right away (i'm willing to work with anyone as much as possible on this thing. I want it to turn out good and I'm not the type of guy to just go "oh go make this" and leave you to it alone) and I want to get a demo out asap to somewhat advertise the impending release of the game to the internet.
If you want to contact me,
Please PM me on here, or send me an AIM at GandoofTheWise (any other means of communication tend to get lost in piles of e-mails or i don't sign on enough to other messengers)
You can also reply to this post, i'll try to check up on it nightly.
Please have some previous or example work!!
Looking forward to responses
i'm all for helping i just barely got komplete 6 which gives me access to some pretty good sounds take a look at some of my audio. still haven't really done with the new stuff yet but i will soon
just to keep things updated, i'm still looking over e-mails and such that i've gotten, i'm not making any replies to any yet because i want to get a healthy amount to look over before i make a concrete decision!
This game looks AWESOME !!!
Here, some examples of how my works sound:
Mistery/ Detective story
Lion King feel/ African/ Ethnic
Taking same musical theme through different styles:
This sounds interesting. I could give it a try. I'll send you a PM here in a sec, and maybe check out some of my stuff and see if any of it is in your realm of thinking, or whether or not i'm going to have to be extra adventurous with me sounds =3
it's been in the works for absolutely ages, but the art only took a few days, to be honest. I draw pretty quickly, and i probably only took a couple weeks to get all the coding,
what's honestly holding me back is the other work that needs to be done like the soundtrack and such.
I may try to find someone to help me refine the programming to
These are 2 songs Which would fit quite well into this Theme
But I PM'ed you with much more, like a forest theme, alien theme and Asian theme! Asian sci-fi ftw :D
That game sure looks sweet !
However, you forgot to mention what genre you are looking for.
Whatever it is, i'm 100% interested in taking part in this.
Here's a song idea i came up with when I first saw this post. I'll probably refine it up a lot, but this is something like what i could bring to the table. I'll PM it to you as well, I'll work on another song too, i mean if this interests you at all.
I guess i should also clarify, to the plight of many e-mails,
I'm looking for something that's orchestrated but has a modern twist (the exact genre would be steam-punk i guess, but a lot of people aren't sure what that is or how to pull it off). The reason being is that it's a fantasy world but it's all made up of pumps and pipes and clockwork machinery.
I'd need the overall theme to be pretty adventurous and high flying.
The character himself is kind of outlandish. He's very eccentric and never straightforward about anything. He's all about gadgets, scoring ladies, taking things that don't belong to him, mischief, and obnoxiously grand entrances.
I'm also looking for someone who's good with themes, like, i'd like to come up with a base track that can be heared in multiple ways throughout the game that people can identify with and say "oh yeah, that's the canthos theme"
anyway, i'm still going through e-mails and checking in on things, i still have not yet found anyone i wanna go with for certain, but i'm sending out e-mails to talk more in-depth to some
If i'm anywhere near the ballpark with this one please tell me, and i can make changes to it if it is required! Oh and hopefully you aren't getting annoyed with my posts... lol

It's good to maintain control of your project, but my suggestion is to allow flexibilities and ideas to come from the composer. Most developers like to literally direct the composer to exactly what they want, which is fine, but most developers are not musicians or composers as well.
In my projects everyone has told me what they want, and then left me to it to finish and deliver. I'd suggest doing the same thing. Don't ask for mp3's on what they've worked on so far on a particular song, it won't help. Wait till they finish that song. Everytime I've done that they've gotten the wrong idea until the song was actually finished, mixed, and mastered.

OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEEEEEAAAHHHHHHHH BABY!!!!
I have sooo got this
I just looked at the picture and was like HEY! This is an action shooter! Im making action music!
You are gonnnaaa loooooooooooooooooove this
Its wild! Its metal clanging gears! Its action pact! Its optimized for flash! If you dont use it i will kill you!
lol... i'm not really stuck up like that.
Hey Box-killa, no offense, but he's looking for orchestrated music with an original and different quality, but still related to steampunk.
So think of it as,
Strings (Huge part of this game)
Brass (another huge part of this game)
Woodwinds (only the really high, and really low pitch instruments have the majority in this group)
Percussion (has to be clever, and sound similar to gears, and other forms of metallic percussion)
Synthesizers (a small majority, but still part of the game)
And than your occasional different instruments based on level.
So yeah, i think this would be a very good game for many Music artists on this site. Since mainly it touches both the orchestral side and the electronic side.
Hope this helped guys.
I'm still actually looking, I've come across a couple promising results but nothing's been grounded in stone yet.
This whole project, musicly, dives into a realm that a lot of people don't generally venture into, which is one reason why i wanted to do it was because of the originality, but it's turned out to be hard to find other people that work well with it as well.
But i'm not giving up!!
I'm still taking e-mails and talking to people, feel free to send me examples or anything, i'll gladly take the time to try to respond to everyone (if i don't, don't take it personally, you may have gotten overlooked, just keep trying)
Some of these fit better than others.. ordered by how relevant I think they are..
something orchestrated with a modern twist ?
Here some of my shit check it out!
