As you all know or some of you , the unfortunate loss of Ben Spurign and his popular flash animations of the Stickslayer episodes are one of those classical movies on newgrounds. As some people may care or be sadden about the loss and others don't care but show there respect , Stamper goes and makes an unnecessary comment and we all know the "Teh stamper" is a very humorous fellow and his hilarious flash works. But as any tragedy loss , where it be suicide or an overdose - we don't know the story behide the persons life but all we can do is respect or mourn for a unfortunate pass away. Above anything else , you don't disrespect a dead guy or even joke about his death but unfortunately , it's the internet. As for me , I'm one of his fans and loved his work when I was younger, so this to me is a great lost and I'm deciding to recreate a popular work of his and do something very special as a tribute for his lost.

Thats how I had to share guys , please keep the trolling or spam out of this thread. Thanks!

Stampers comment , Forgot :(

A memorial page is a great idea, actually. Something like this, right:

Username > Heroin
Username > Suicide
Username > Suicide
Username > Gunned Down by Cops
Username > Suicide
Username > Shot up School, then Suicide
Username > Shot up School, then Gunned Down by Cops
Username > Suicide

As disrespectful as it may come across, Stamper did have a point. All of the deaths of Newgrounders that people remember happen in unfortunate circumstances.

This is filler text.

The point for a memorial page is to remember his great things , not to remember on how he died or the way he died...

Very true, but unfortunately that is the way that most people think, especially here on Newgrounds.

Stamper did have a point, but he didn't express it in a way which suited the time and place of the post...

Stamper was right. A memorial page would probably be exactly like that.

Sure, the comments section may have some heartfelt goodbyes, but the premise of the kind of page Tom mentioned would probably be like that.

Why not? If there's no "official" explanation for the death, rumors will prevail.

He was just suggesting a possible way of categorizing deceased users. He aint making fun of him. Its a valid technical consideration. You have to figure more and more users will be dead as time goes on. It'll get disorganized like the games collection currently is, where you cant find shit. fucking fix it Tom.

It wasn't that disrespectful. There is some truth behind it. Now we just have to get going on the DanMalo Memorial Page.

I don't know about that, but I don't know Stamper. Frankly, if he were to make fun of the guy I still wouldn't find fault with it. The guy OD'd on Heroin. Sorry guys, he killed himself, he fucked up and yeah, that ain't exactly an admirable trait. I don't hate the man and I don't wish that upon anyone, but it seems whenever anyone dies everyone jumps right on the smooth away the faults bandwagon.

The guy did heroin and died and it was a stupid decision to do heroin when he made it. And if society has to laugh at adicts to deal with it, I'm ok with that.

As for the list, seriously, do you want a page immortalizing a bunch of fuck ups to only inspire further fuck ups?

If Tom and the staff do, its their perogitive, but its not necessarily a great idea. All you need is one attention starved teen on these boards to see that and go "oh," just like sirtom did last spring with the crowd he was talking with online.

Again, I wouldn't bash anyone for their art and he was a contributor to this site in one of the highest senses of the word, but died a fucking stupid death and he picked it when he didn't change his lifestyle. And I'd say the same of a bunch of other people who were on this site only to go off and take themselves out (and maybe others) as well.

One thing that you have to understand is that some people are prone to addiction for whatever reason. While some of the time it's blatant stupidity, it can also be something else like depression or any other type of psychological or genetic disorder. My brother's bi-polar and he's been addicted to something or other during the majority of his adult life. Some of them try and get help, but not every family knows how, we sent him to rehab, we let him stay at our house when he had been awake for three days straight on a crack binge, we did almost everything in our power to get him to kick the habit, nothing really worked until he got his own shit together and started focusing on his family. His wife (also smoking crack) was 3 months or so pregnant at the time, now he just works and spends time raising a family.

Not exactly making excuses or condoning addiction, but seeing it played out first hand gave me a little more understanding. My uncle said "people who get addicted are looking for something else in life", which for the most part is true, I don't know many people who decide to do drugs on a whim who are satisfied with their life.

Fact of the matter is, yeah heroin was a bad choice especially with all the methadone clinics and rehab centers, but if people's way of dealing with it is by laughing at it then they need to pull their heads out of their asses. The reason there is a war on drugs is because of the damage is causes, innocent people get killed when an addict robs them, vandalism and break and enters, drugs are a huge part of gang revenue, there are tons of reasons why addiction isn't funny. Unless you're addicted to anal probing, which is just hilarious.

As for the list, seriously, do you want a page immortalizing a bunch of fuck ups to only inspire further fuck ups?

FUNKbrs would be happy :3

You know, I agree with pretty much everything you said. It is a horrible thing and I can't make any assumptions about an individual or who they are, but I'll still call it a stupid fucking decision because it is. Yes, they want more in their life and I completely understand that. But society corrects for stupidity by making it something that isn't very desirable. Its called peer pressure, and personally peer pressure against something that is going to end your life I'm perfectly ok with. I'm not talking about harrassing the person, but if you choose actively to persue a self destructive life you're not going to get sympathy from me when you die, unless I have other attatchments to you.

I can understand why people loved this man. He was a great artist, he was probably tons of fun to be around and from what I've seen he really did make people happy. But that doesn't excuse his faults.

If anyone's read Speaker for the Dead, you know how I feel about something like this.

there are tons of reasons why addiction isn't funny

Q: What did the heroin addict get on his IQ test?

A: Drool.

http://scahr.info/culture/jokes.htm#iqte st

Addiction is hilarious. We laugh at anything that makes us uncomfortable. There are billions of jokes about addiction, just like there are billions about the holocaust or whatever else (sorry godwin), You're not going to make this less funny by wearing black.

Is it sad? Sure. But I think people should laugh every chance they get and, no, I don't think it tarnishes the guys memory.

About Stamper, though, I can't say I'm surprised at his comment. It's a shame that a lot of Newgrounders went out that way.

Your a fucking idiot. Just because he made a funny comment you have to make a whole thread bitching about it? If you didn't like it that's great. You know what that's called? an opinion. Try keeping them to your self.

BACK IN MY DAY, NG'ERS USED TO SHOOT COPS BEFORE KILLING THEMSELVES.

If there was such a thing as a memorial page, who decides who's worthy enough to be put on it? Millions of users = hundreds of deaths. Does buddy who made four stick movies five years ago count? What about little-miss-posted-five-times?

All in all it's a stupid idea and I think that was the ultimate point of Stamp's post
