Am I an atheist?

Ever since I was 11 years old, I have considered myself an atheist, but in the last few months, I have been thinking that perhaps I am actually an agnostic.

Though I believe that God's existence is quite unlikely, it isn't impossible. Sure, it may be more likely that i'll be struck by lightning before I finish typeing this, but still not impossible. However, even if his existence were to be proven, hell, even if he appeared right in front of my face and bitchslapped me, I would not worship him. For a perfect, all powerful being to create a shitty, fucked up world like this shows unspeakable laziness. He's probably even lazier than I am. Someone that lazy is not at all deserving of worship.

So, with my beliefs clearly stated above, I would like you to answer this question: Am I an atheist or an agnostic?

Please try not to just get into religious arguments. I'm probably an idiot for asking this of the Newgrounds General Forum, but oh well. I only asked a question, and I just want it answered. I have no intentions of arguing with anyone about religion, so don't even bother.

Does it really matter what you believe? People of certain religious beliefs will want you to believe their crap. Other people may want you to believe in UFO's.

I believe to be an atheist, you must not believe in god. Choosing to not worship god doesn't make you an atheist though.

If you would take it that God is real if he was proven... then you're agnostic. Being agnostic has nothing to do with worship.

If you would continue to disbelieve, or basically have a firm belief that God is not real, then you are an atheist.

He intentionally created it that way. Life's supposed to be a test, to see what you'll do when you're in such a fucked up place. He also created a perfect world, that is heaven.

No, get your facts straight, almost no atheists use that definition.

Atheism is the lack of belief in a deity in the face of a deficit of evidence. Not an assertion in of itself.

There was that joke about the religious man who got lost at sea and attacked by pirates or something, and is stranded in a lifeboat for like a week, and during that time three other ships come along and offer him aid but he turns them down because "God has a plan for me", and he ends up somehow sinking his lifeboat or something and dying and he comes to God and asks what the fuck, and God says "I sent you three boats, dude, what more did you want?" The moral is that people blame (whether he's real or not, the figure of God here can apply to anything else, people love shifting blame )God when things go wrong, and they expect God to preform miracles every day when in reality, if there is a God, it would work in mundane ways, there was even that quote in Futurama where Bender meets God and he says "If you do it right, people will wonder if youve done anything at all."

My philosophy is that you can't say "God is the reason the world is fucked up, he made such a fucked up world because he's too lazy to stop every drunk diving wreck, or jealous boyfriend or something" - God (if he exists) gave people free will, and then THEY fucked the world up.

Probably agnostic or weak atheist, but I think if you actually met God you'd have a better opinion of It. See, God's in quite a predicament: during the Old Testament days, God took action against evil and people call It abusive, evil, violent. Nowadays, God leaves humans to sort out their own evil and people call It neglectful and lazy. Humans are an unpleasable bunch, as anything one human likes another doesn't. It's one of the consequences of individual consciousness. Which may make some ask why God gave man individual consciousness and free will to begin with, but that's kinda the whole point of the universe, that the sentient beings within, such as humans, may have free will.

Nowhere in atheism does it say you have to be an atheist with "absolute certainty". In fact, "absolute certainty" is the kind of thing that religious bigots are known for.

By the way, if you dislike God as well or if you wish he doesn't exist, then you're not just an atheist, you're also an anti-theist. This is a distinction from those atheists who look at religion and think, "Wow, I wish this was true."

3. Higher than 50% but not very high. Thechincally agnostic but leaning towards theism. 'I am very uncertain, but I am inclined to believe in God.'

4. Exactly 50%. Completely impartial agnostic. 'God's existence and non-existence are exactly equiprobable.'

5. Lower than 50% but not very low. Technically agnostic but leaning towards atheism. 'I don't know whether God exists but I'm inclined to be sceptical.'

6. Very low probability, but short of zero. De fact atheist. 'I cannot know for vertain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there.'

7. Strong atheist. 'I know there is no God, with the same conviction as Jung "knows" there is one.'

It really depends how strongly you acknowledge the possibility of there being a god. I am an atheist but I have to acknowledge the sheer technicality that there might be a god out there somewhere. I am not an agnostic because I'm not 'in the middle' or 'undecided'; the possibility of there being a god out there is as close to zero as you can possibly get.

According to the Christianity: ( I am not bashing it)
We were the ones who corrupted the earth. God gave us a free will and he took an oath/made a promise that he would never destroy it again. We became shitty and fucked up from our own selves being ignorant and lazy.

If God exists, I'm sure he is dissapointed with what we have done but we can't expect him to fix all of our mistakes every time, no matter how easy they are.

You are agnostic. If you were atheist you would deny his existence. But since you you say even if he "popped up in front of you and bitch slapped you" you still wouldn't worship him, that makes you agnostic.

My views on religion are mixed.

For one thing, whenever I try to think about how exactly the fuck everything was formed, I just give up about halfway through. Honestly I have no clue. I do not worship anything or anyone, I just exist as an individual. I'm okay with people who are religious, but whenever someone tries to push a religion on me, I can't help but get enraged.. I don't know, I just get pissed off, like about ready to fight someone pissed off.

The reason people are atheist is because there is no evidence to support the existence of god, and there is a lot of reasoning to suggest that the existence of god would be self-contradictory. Atheism isn't a devotion like religion is. All that it would take for even the most sincere atheists to believe in god is evidence.

Well my family is Catholic but I really doubt that God exists because of all the shit that we're going through, cause if he did exist he would just help us out just a little and if the world is gonna end in 2012 WTF! I'm not even 18 and I really wanna be able to smoke LEGALLY and hit up the skin bar with my friends!
