i never knew ben as a person but i knew him as a creator of flash a genius most would say i would be one of those people he will be strongly missed my thoughts are with his family i remember my first game on here pimp quest and i loved it ben im going to miss you your family are going to miss you and the people of newgrounds will miss you r.i.p

I did not know him nor his flashes, but he was an NGer, and every day that a fellow NGer dies is a sad day for all NGers.

Newgrounds has lost one of it's finest. I remember when I was a kid, screwing around on the site, playing his games. Rest in peace, Ben Spurgen, you will be missed.

Tom, I realize that you probably feel obligated to put the little "sad" emoticon up because of how happy your news pic and forum icon are, but it just doesn't seem sincere.

I didn't know him but I watched his flash. I'm was sincerely sorry when I learned Ben had died. I know some of you probably think this is a hoax...I doubt it but I won't interfere with your conspiracies, I know some of you give less sympathy for ben and his family because of how he died. The world does not gain through a mans death, you shouldn't have less sympathy for someone just because they died of a drug overdose!

I can definitely confirm that it is not a hoax. i was friends with ben the last couple months of his life. He lived with a bunch of friends of mine, and two of them found him. None of us knew he was using, so it was a pretty huge shock to everybody. It's a sad situation and it's nice to see that a lot of people remember him, because he was a kind, awesome, funny, creative guy.

i was just coming here today to play games, but i couldn't resist posting about this since i knew him and was happy to call him a friend.

Sad times, we're losing artists left and right. I overheard my school cop saying this to a student getting expelled for drug usage: "Well, you fucked up, son. Ya fucked up good." That's all there is to it. He fucked up.

I didn't know the guy, and I didn't know anything about him. So I don't really care at all, but yeah, if you knew him then sorry for your loss.
