I didn't know the guy behind the amazing flash series, but I did watch it quite a few years ago. Think it was 2004, hes the guy who got me into stick figure animations. Animation is behind me now but I love his series. RIP Ben.

Sure, it's kinda sad that he is no longer existing consciously, but this whole 'false sympathy' is bullshit. He was a dumbass for getting himself involved in drugs. Don't pretend like he was some hero, because I guarantee that he didn't have any kind of a following.

Go ahead and cry about it. I'm just telling the truth.

ooooohhh, look who's here, mister-i'm-the-most-awesome-and-correct-
guy-on-NG.
shut the fuck up, the guy was here since 2000 or so, and submitted some great flashes, and some of them were even recorded in NG's history.
how he died is IRRELEVANT, what really matters is that we lost a great animator. and yet you don't give a shit and say that we're doing this just to look nice. you never knew him to treat him this way, so fuck off, respect the dead.

now that i've said this, i'm sorry for Ben's mother for her loss.
may you rest in peace, Ben. Pimp's Quest was a classic.

Anybody who subjected themselves to drug uses, especially heroine, and die deserves no sympathy, no matter how artistic he may have been.

I agree with a lot of the posters. Poor guy, was fairly young too.

Well, could we at LEAST memorialise the ones who didn't get into a school shooting or a gunfight with cops before they offed themselves? That's the decent way to go, after all. (not being sarcastic, even though it might sound like sarcasm right there...)

R.I.P., Ben. You were about to turn the same age as me in another week or so... I lost my best friend *(and his mom/brother to a drunk driver) when I was in 7th grade, so it's not like death of a peer is something I haven't experienced before, but... it's always unsettling when the people near your age (or younger) start to drop. I didn't know Ben, but I saw a few of his flashes way back in 2001-2003ish... really sucks that so many artists from the past 10 years of NG history are already gone, and here's another one to add to the list.

Deep cliched shit: Birth's a mystery. Death's just something we have to deal with, of course. Living's that awkward thing in between.

Well... some of us want attention, others just want to share in some company with fellow weirdos. I suppose part of sharing the company of people like you is... getting attention from them, but you also give attention back to them.

But yes, if you want to be reductive, it's all one big attention-whoring circlejerk, to be cynical about it.

But I challenge you to find a website with ways for its members to communicate that ISN'T, so... yeah. NG. Rock on. #;-}>

i'm actually writing up a goodbye doc for someone to post on my page when i'm gone

Do you expect to be gone soon, or is that a "just in case" LastWillAndTestament-ish type preparation you're taking?

RIP Ben
There are certainly more bitter deaths than to die by an opiate overdose.

I would love to have a memorial page...even if it might seem kinda morbid to outsiders.

Simply remembering his animations I watched in 2005 and seeing his very recent blog post, it makes me very sad to know he is gone; even more so for the cause of his death and being so young :(

RIP Ben

May I ask...How did he die?

an heroine overdose.

It's really sad to see stuff like this happening, although it is quite a warm feeling to see that so many people are remembering him, even without knowing him.

I guess that those who knew him must be filled with frustration tho...

Frankly, I don't feel sorry for him. It's his fault. Or, atleast, that's what I heard. If it was heroine overdose, then that's one less addict to arrest.

Wow, this is truly a pity.
I've heard of so many bad things happening from heroin, and they all make for sad stories.
I wish it could have gone differently, and I offer my condolences to his family and friends.
RIP.
