Huh... I saw a couple of Ben's animations a few years ago before I got my account, they were some of the best I'd seen, I would have got into animation due to that, but I'm shit and don't know anyone who does it. I know a couple of people who have died like that, it's horrible to witness.

Just read through all the posts on here, and i'm a little disturbed.

Really, people? Just because someone dies of a drug overdose, you can't have sympathy for them? Or even the family they've left behind? What the fuck is wrong with you?

A great animator and, by all accounts of those who knew him personally, a good man died. He will be missed, if only for his animation. People mourn his death. If you don't care, then leave those who do alone.

Again, R.I.P. Ben. I did not know you personally, but your flash helped shape Newgrounds into what it is today. Even if some of those who inhabit it are worthless fuckheads.

Woah, I had no idea this was serious and I thought it was a joke! What exactly did he die of anyway? He was one of my favorite artists on this website and it's a pity he was never able to make that final Stick Slayer flash.

Wow I haven't watch the Stick Slayer series for a while. Shame for such a great NG artist to go away like that : (

It's sad to hear about an artist dying, but it just makes me agree more that newgrounds should have a memorial page, for all those we lost, whether loved by all or not, these people spend countless hours of their lives doing something they enjoy just so we can enjoy it too, they deserve something extra to say that they were here, and that they are missed.

The Stick Slayer Series was great, I can't believe he's gone

I may not have known him, but he looks like a swell guy. Anyone with with the will to work towards awesomeness on newgrounds has to have a an awesomeness about them. I'm sad to hear that this was due to drugs, and it makes me hate them, all the more. His family will be in my prayers.

May Ben rest in peace and go to the great NG in the sky. His legacy will be his awesome work and the good times that he had with his family and friends. I feel that it would be a fitting tribute, and if Ben's family gives it the green light, if MindChamber is allowed to complete SS9 and thereby complete the apotheosis of Ben Spurgin as one of the true legends/Gods of NG. I believe that the users of NG are like a family and each of us a brother.
Rest in peace my brother in NG. Your light will never dim or be extingushed.

To all those people who are going on about how Ben shouldn't have done drugs, it was his choice. You're only commenting about it because we were told on the StickSlayer page. If you have any humanity left, then you should apologise for smearing Ben's memory with your shameful comments. Both my girlfriend's and my hearts go out to Ben's family and we hope that his work will live on as his legacy. Our bodies are but flesh and blood, but the mind and soul are eternal. Ben inspired everyone who he met, either in person or on NG. I never had the honour of communicating with Ben, but he touched us all.

If this seems wrong or distasteful, then I apologise most sincerely - I propose a toast, "To Ben, one of the true legends of NG".
