Waterlollies: Where's the love?

Why isn't Waterlollies in the top ten? I mean... damn. The animation, creativity, sound, music... it flows so well. What the hell people?

This is true, in a manner of speaking.

While waterlollies is one of the most detailed, original and artistic flashes on this site, it is also old.

Therefore it has been replaced by newer, short, cartoonish flashes - which are the flavor of the year, it seems. This replacement is a shame, in my opinion.

When new flash artists turn to the Top Scoring animations to see what the Newgrounds "epitome" is, I'd rather them see waterlollies and aspire to that style of art/story/attention to detail instead of seeing some of the current popular flashes (no offense to those artists either, but "funniest" isn't necessarily the "best").

It's just the way the voting works really all the old submissions get drained away and new ones come in.
I'm still confused as to why everyone still loves There She Is though, if you look at the reviews everyone says things like "Usually I'm a tough person but I actually cried because of this" and I'm not joking, all the reviews are like that. It's like some guy called "Bob" made a couple hundred accounts and e-mails and is on a review spree.

Its a shame really because NG should be advertised as a great place for aspiring artists and inspire them to do great blockbuster flash work , instead... pixel shrooms . *sigh*

It would be fucking boring if that top 50 list never changed.

The label 'best of all time' is a misnomer. Its just an algorhythm / mathematical aggregation of highly rated movies. Its not some high respected film critic or something. Movies naturally degrade over time. Waterlollies is many years old now. That doesnt discredit it as not being a quality film. Just simply that in the way that that top 50 list is setup, movies/games naturally degrade over time (their scores anyway). That actually is what is inspiring for artists. The fact that you cant just make a waterlollies and just sit on your ass expecting to be number 1 forever. Adam is working on his next installment. People are working on their own quality projects and to have the top 50 be a flexible list thats 'alive' is more motivating then seeing the same movies there for 50 years.

That list would be entirely opinionated and I'm sure a lot of little girls would squeak and squeel because one or more submission is on the list that they don't agree with.

You have also go to take into consideration the amount of people voting 5 on everything these days. Awhile ago, the top submission would be in the 4.2's, now we have hit 4.8's before. I'm not sure if it's because of Newgrounds high traffic due to Digg and other advertisements, but people really need to be easy on the 5's.

That's what I've realized! The top 50 scores slowly get higher, and higher. It's like global warming, but fucking retarded and non-consiquencial! WHAT HAPPENS when the #1 flash reaches 5.00 and never leaves? How will there ever be another #1?

Well my only caveat in even my own statement is that yes let us not forget that we have a young audience in the portal voting stuff up or down. There will always be zero bombers and hardcore upvoter fanboys. Thats just the personality of the portal. Its a portal that is unforgiving and down right unfair sometimes. But its a portal we learn to love even in all its imperfections and immature audience.

I think that if you truly think Waterlollies is the best of all time you should just classify it as such in your userpage. Where you are in control :)

when people over watch something, then you get the same people starting to vote a little lower every time, people who are accustomed to something, will always vote lower then new people will... and ther are just enough people watching new things that the waterlolies gets pushed out of the top scoring... it is still prety high... i remember that it hit a 4.68 or something... which is dam high...

Recency weights more than quality in terms of ratings on Newgrounds, if this wasn't the case, Beebo PART 1 would still be topping all (positive) lists.
