Before you say "SEND IT INTO MICROSOFT" thats out of the question because i need the system for a halloween party, and I'm not waiting for it to get fixed. So if money is no object, and because of the fact im pretty pissed of that i got the red ring on my xbox, do I buy another xbox, or do i get a ps3? Give me some reasons for doing either one.

If you have a lot of games for the 360, getting a PS3 would be pretty stupid. Just get another 360.

Maybe you could borrow a system from a friend who's going to the party and in the mean time send in the Xbox to get it fixed. Try to see if there's a way where you don't have to spend money on a new Xbox first before immediately thinking you need to.

Try the towel trick. I've done it before out of desperation, and it does indeed work. Do it about a day before your party, then send it in to Microsoft afterwards. My friend did it too many times and his serial melted off, so please be careful when doing this.
