Pandemonium for the PSX. Seriously, I remember being stuck on the third stage forever. Your character only has two hitpoints and I just kept dying and dying. Sure there's a few heart containers but those are well hidden.

The first three Mortal Kombat games. Of course, I go back now and still suck at them... Or perhaps Metroid II or Super Mario Land for Game Boy, each took me seven years to beat, or Kirby's Pinball Land, which took me six but with many more hours of play. In fact, I'd have to say Kirby's Pinball Land, one of the first games I ever owned and beaten mere hours before I got my first real console (having played a Game Boy for so long).

Probably one of the metal gear solid's because I kept forgeting O was the accept button not X so I couldnt even get past the menu.

And when I didnt get in game I just ran around shooting everyone.

if you're talking about good games that are hard as hell then, Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse
if you're talking about games so bad they're impossible, Superman on the N64

My boyfriend always uses the phrase "Nintendo hard" to describe a really hard game or level. Those of us who have played lots of NES games will know why. Some of those games were damn hard.

For me though, I think the hardest childhood game was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES. It was so hard that by Area 2 it stopped being fun.

Donkey Kong Country 2. I could get all the way up to the last 5 levels easily, but the final boss was ridiculous, and there was this one vertical scrolling level where you're forced to play as the animal characters which arent very fast. I guess it wasnt a hard game, but it was one of the few I couldnt beat because of the final boss.

Final fantasy 8 first rpg and I didnt know what to do so I got lost easily and quickly
Mario 2d games I had always hard trouble with them.
And Final Fantasy 11 my first MMO experience ever and I had no idea on what to do for the first day.

Rayman was it for me too. The giant scorpion boss was so hard... i returned to the game just recently and it didnt turn out as hard as I remembered.

but then it turned out that after the scorpion you HAVE TO collect EVERY GODDAMN CAGE to get to the last level. i found them all but the last level is too hard...

I was afraid of Ghoma and it took some time to figure out her weakness. I was stuck on a easy part on the Cavern, and I let my friend who already owned and beat the game play it for a while. He moved so I didn't get it until half a year later, and then I realized the stupid error I made and how easy it was to solve it.

hahahahah

amen to this whole quote man. The FIRST game i played for my n64 was the ocarina of time. it was the best experience ive ever had with a game, and the toughest. the entire shadow temple had me shitting my pants. the zombies that would scream and freeze you? that could sometimes prevent me from beating a certain room for weeks!

MUST
DODGE
DEAD THINGS

x] fantastic play overall though. Very tough challenges too.

Hmm i wonder if i were to practice gene splicing if i could create... OH GOD IT WENT WRONG I SCREWED UP BAD

Micky Mania - it also sucked hugely. you weapon was marbles....

Sol Feace - over the top bullet hell Japanese shooter.

Ecco the dolphin - my young brain could not get around it, and the last boss scared the shit out of me..... with his message of "welcome to the machine"...

Dick tracy on the NES - i strongly reccomend wathing the angry nintendo nerds rant on this one.

agree 100% with the rayman and alex kidd in miracle world opinions...

lemmings or cannon fodder though were probably the bane of my existance as a young teen. they had this way of punishing totally any small mistake that made me rage...
