I have a quick question about the game.

What did the humans turn into at the Wasteland?

No the first humans in the vaults died long ago. Those are their descendants.

Everything in the Wasteland that looks the least bit human, probably is. Super mutants were humans at one point before the war, ghouls, feral ghouls, glowing ones, Centaurs?. Most everything else came from some kind of animal.
