I find that when I go there every now and then I enjoy taking the subway to iconic places like Times Square. The feeling of awe you get when you see all those lights shimmering and the huge billboards while emerging from the subway is amazing.

Also, if your not afraid, take a stroll through the Bronx or some of the ghettos just to appreciate the graffiti and hip hop culture.

I love New york City so much go all the time to visit cousins.the restaurants and city life is fun to just watch it gets exhausting so drink lots of water.

I would highly recommend this. I went to Dangerfield's after my junior prom and the people there were hilarious (keep in mind that these things run well into the night). I would also recommend going up the Empire State building. Gory Blizzard already explained a lot of stuff, so I won't go into any more details about NYC. Read his stuff. He knows what he's talking about and can explain things a lot better than I can.

Make sure to go to Brooklyn just for the pizza. It's not that far out of the way from the city.

I would say go to a Yankee game in the Bronx, but it's October and you probably won't be able to get tickets.

Staten Island is boring as far as I know, although I've just driven through it.

And as much as I hate to admit it, we Long Islanders really have nothing to offer unless you want to go all the way out to Montauk.

I was there, last year. I went to Central Park, took a bus tour, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, saw Conan on Late Night (I'm the uncredited audience member), saw two movies I wouldn't have seen in Toronto at the time (Transsiberian and Tell No One), and went to a museum. Overall, it was a very stellar trip. Central Park was gorgeous and Conan was awesome. The subways are confusing compared to the straightforward system in Toronto, but at least I got to ride them. I wouldn't mind going back, someday.

Don't listen to this, it's really easy to follow the trains, just find a map and keep your eye on the line of the train you plan on taking and the ride shouldn't be too difficult, also many major trains (4,5,2,3 F,J,M,Z) will show the next stop as well as several other furthur stops, which makes it easy to figure out what your next stop is. I honestly think it's better to the subways then get around via cab, since the cab will burn up a lot of money.

But go to Brooklyn and get a slice of pizza, it might sound stupid or corny but Brooklyn slices are the most delicious out of all the 5 boroughs, well just don't go to manhattan for a slice.

Fuck off. I live in queens, and everyone's a jew here(c'sept me), no black people for miles. Queens > Manhattan- it's a shitload quieter, and you can actually breathe without coughing out bus fumes.
