Now, don't get me wrong, I love these things. They're easily portable, they store plenty of data, and unlike the old floppy disks they don't become unusable after being in a 3-ring binder or a pocket. They're a fine method of data storage and are very useful for carrying, say, Alts.txt between home and school (allowing me to access NG and my e-mail from the computer center).

But these things are so easy to lose! Their small size, the very characteristic that makes them amazingly portable, means that they're easy to lose if, say, one falls out of your coat pocket. I've owned two, and I've managed to lose them three times. One of them I haven't found again, and the other I had to search for two weeks to find once and two hours to find the second time. I spent $20 on the one I lost for good. Yep, that's $20, right down the fucking toilet because it fell out of my pocket (my pants pocket, somehow) while I was eating!

These things need to come with a tracking device, something where you can use a cell phone or something to find it once it's lost.

That's why you wear them around your neck. Sure it looks dorky but it's practical.
Also, I don't use them.

Alt.txt?

I'm a noob with computers, but I'm interested to know how I can access NG, Facebook, ect while at school using a flash drive.

And my input on the topic itself is that their amazingness makes up for having to buy a few of them due to losses. Or you can attach a lanyard to your beltloop or something.

Yea, I just keep mine on a keychain. Then it's easy to find and I can take it with me if I need to. Most of the time it just sits in my table drawer anyway.

I bought a $70 16GB flash drive last year.

It's a lot harder to lost when you pay that much.

Go to this fucking blog right now: http://inyourfaceheh.blogspot.com/

It's just a text file that holds my important passwords. E-mail, Newgrounds, every forum I use, and even my eBay password are on there. And when you have as many e-mail and NG accounts as I do, with the kinds of passwords I use, that becomes important.

Yeah, I guess. Still, it's annoying to have Alts.txt and some nice .swf files stored on the drive and then lose it in the middle of a plate of General Tso's Chicken.
