Why's everyone so angry?

Everyone is in an angry mood lately, and it's quite annoying. For the simplest questions, they'll begin yelling and insulting you. Example:

"May I please use a pencil?"
"Shut the fuck up, god, that's why no one likes you."
" That's why I fucked Marissa, your little crush, last night, right?"
"..."

It's not even hurting my feelings, just annoying now. Seriously, have we become so hateful that we can't even answer simple questions without screaming at people? The majority of the people doing this are students, but sometimes even the adults are doing so. From adults, it's acceptable, bad sleep, too many tests to grade, could be anything. But, seriously, how many problems are students are having that they can't even answer normally to a request for something?

Has anyone else noticed this? By friends, or adults, or parents?

I'm stating the whole sentence word for word. That's the exact conversation, and I rarely talk to the person. It's less severe with other people, who's answer would be "Here, now go away." or something similar, but that one person seems to be angry at only me for no reason.

People when stressed out with themselves tend to take it out on others, and in turn it may release that anger you have within you, but in reality in just creates more anger... but not always to you.... but to the person you took your frustration out upon.

It is a vicious cycle that keeps on going, and this problem, although can be easily solved, simply can't.
