So for those of you in college 5 list the similarities and differences between highschool and college, and for those of you in highschool please list what you have to put up with in highschool, and what you think will be new about college.

Highschool- Loud assholes who have nothing interesting to say

Teachers that get on your back and practically pop around every corner

a well designed cage

mundane routine that's similar to prison

sneaking around just to smoke pot or drink

College- Loud assholes who STILL have nothing interesting to say

A very expensive cage with plenty of freedom, be lazy at your own risk and waste tuition money.

Teachers who don't care what you do as long as you follow their rules, which is easier said than done because they'll shit up a storm if you miss an assigment unlike most highschools where you get like...3 months to make it up.

"sneaking" around for pot and drinking, caution is exercised for both except drinking if you're overage, but after the first year people stop being secretive, since the school doesn't care but that doesn't mean you can go to class smoking it either.

go to the bathroom without asking. I know this may not sound like a big deal, but i HATE the fact that all my life i've been ASKING to go to the bathroom. WHAT KIND OF SICK SHIT IS THAT??! i know why you have to ask...it's just...jesus...i've nearly pissed my pants on several occasions because other kids didn't come back to class after asking to go to the bathroom causing the teacher to mistrust EVERYONE! in college thank GOD you can just run out and stay out even for 20 minutes if the teachers an idiot.

Well in high school there were rules and strict shit, in college it is just drinking chilling and an assignment that I can throw together in a night and hopefully pass. Don't have to come to class and can leave when I want to. Basically almost complete freedom to study except for the odd mandatory class, lectures you hold and reports.... and the tests of course

god I do hate the tests

My college is way worse than my highschool(Okay, okay, American and Dutch educational systems are hard to compare).
Since now I have teachers who are just eagerly waiting to kick me out, because they think I don't make any work(which isn't true), whilst in my highschool they didn't give a fuck, most teachers anyway. If they did, they could punish you with extra work or detention, which I never followed up on.
But in my college I've got a major bitch as my mentor, who's going to fuck me over because of my broken hand, because it disables writing with it.
And seeing as I have exams or at least important tests in 2 weeks, when my hand is still broken, I told her about how we were going to solve this problem and she basically said that I had to solve it myself and that she didn't care and I'll have to do a resit most likely, since she wasn't going to let me do it oral or on a computer, since my left hand is still fine..

Jesus, you need to set up some priorities. Just passing shouldn't be your goal, man. You're paying to go to college, so you may as well try and get more out of the education you're paying for.

Yeah, but let's be honest when you get your diploma, maybe your first employer will ask for your grades, the rest only care for the paper.

Similarities eh... I've been out of high school for 4 years now... memories are fading. Ha!

I remember getting to high school and feeling very inferior, but by the time grade 12 rolled around I felt pretty entitled, but not rightly so. Now at university, I felt like I was an equal in first year, but now as a 4th year I do feel a little entitled again, like first year students 'still' don't know what it's like to have to work hard.

I do much more work in university, I coasted through high school and I don't think I spent much more than about 20 minutes a day doing homework whereas now I have trouble doing things like going for groceries or eating properly.

I take my athletics much more seriously in university as well. Representing a school of 25,000 is a little different than a school of 600.

when you talk, i dont care what it means, shouldn't just stare at you, should i?

Now that I have survived both highschool and college, I would have to say highschool was a lot more fun than college ever was. Freshman and Sophomore years of highschool were brutal, yes, but the final years (Junior & Senior years) made up for it. At the end of 4 years, everyone got along for the most part, the work load was manageable and the teachers actually cared about teaching, rather than their own research projects on the side.

College was just lame all the way through. Too much drama, too many "Teaching Assistants" instead of teachers, too many egotistical frat boys, too much focus on getting shitfaced, too much emphasis on social-climbing, etc.

Of course, I went from an environment with absolutely NO drama (all-male highschool) to a veritable drama-factory (a "privileged-kids-only" college campus) so I was inevitably going to hate my time there.

So glad highschool is over. My years there sucked, except for a few moments back in freshmen and sophomore year. College is a shit load better than highschool, even though there's a lot more work. I would never want to go back.
