When did you first learn about Newgrounds?
My signup date says 9/10/04, so around that week I suppose.

What do you most enjoy about the site?
The core content, the flash movies and games.

Given one day at the reins of the site, what would you change, what would you fix?
To start, a new forum to separate elite actionscript from the rest. Then maybe a simple word detection script to keep people from posting in the wrong forum. After that, cleanup of the categories. Maybe I would kill some dead ideas properly too.

Is there anything you miss, that you'd like to see back?
The categories being more human, I miss those comments grouping the entries and so on. It was more than just a boring list of names, it was a page with it's own content.

At first it was the games and movies. Back in '06 I especially enjoyed the mario collection and video game spoofs in general. Nowadays my main reason for coming here are the forums, I still watch movies and play games though.

I'd try to find a good solution for the problem of the flash portal, namely the loads of crap flashes passing through it. Also, chat lolol.

Oh man, I'm remembering the old whistle flash. Blow my whistle baby... But I guess animated signatures would be the first thing I'd bring back.

A friend showed me the Drag Racer game back in '03. I stuck around.

The artistic movies. Things that are experimental and expressive.

Put something ultra sweet like candy or unlimited HD movies in the "Some account type thingy here."

But seriously would make this place more organized. User Ranks(fix them and add more categories or statistics), Top 50 Flash algorithm, Flash tags. This place is a mess and backwards archiving is going to be a huge task. Good Flash movies have to be accessible if they will have longevity to draw viewers beyond getting front paged.

Yeah I always wanted to play Ross in Mario Kart 64. I even PM'd him about it but now that he's left NG I don't think I'll ever get the chance :/ Nobody plays that game anymore...

It was back in 2001 or so. My cousin Tyler, who was 5 years older than me and my other cousin at the time, was showing us Tubby Fun Landand Pico's School. It was hilarious to us. This site has been tweaked, re-arranged, and fixed more times than ground zero. I'd say there are a lot of small things that could be added to any site just to make it that better. I'd fix the chat. I'd have more advanced searches. The collection pages would be organized a whole hell of a lot better. For the most part this site is already beefed up to the max, though.

I really miss the old pop up profiles. It was easier to click on someones name and read their info from a pop-up window. Now I have to open up a new page then filter out all the bullshit from the user pages. I'm not saying user pages wasn't a good idea. I'm just saying it could have been pulled off better. Oh yeah, and the whistle song was really goddamn catchy.

1. I was searching for flash games on google and stumbled upon newgrounds.
2. It's the only logical choice for a flash community/portal
3. I'd mess around with it and add a bunch of cool secrets

What do you most enjoy about the site? Right now, it's looking through all the art in the art portal. There's some pretty good stuff in there.

Although one feature I might add to the BBS is a 24 hour restriction on new accounts. So they can't make a post, start a thread until the 24 hours is up.

Better rating system for the audio portal; I'd like to see you be able to gain points from rating audio instead of solely flash. Some people are better at music things than flash, and they shouldn't be punished.

When did you first learn about Newgrounds? A friend told me about it. However, when I went on, I was turned off by all the porn ads (in hindsight, I miss them). Later, I became a part of the "Ultimate Showdown" fad. I went to the main site regularly, but then the link changed to a link of the video on NG. I decided to bite the bullet, and make an account. I don't regret it.
What do you most enjoy about the site? I enjoy the culture. Over here, pretty much anything goes, and all the stuff we do is awesome. It's a great place.

The big thing with NG isn't it's insistence on flash, but that it is user moderated; crap is filtered out due to having low scores. That's what youtube doesn't have, and it suffers for it.

Hum I was in 5th grade of primary school (elementary school for USish folks) when suddenly one of my friend was playing excite bike trouble . I got hooked by curiosity, so my friend typed the site and I played my first flash game in this same computer room. The game was torture Bill Gates ( a pretty bad game I know :/). Soon after, I founded Teletubbies fun land and Assasins. I quit Newgrounds until 4 years ago, where we had finally a better internet speed. Now my life is fulfilled with newgrounds :D

What do you most enjoy about the site?

Games...movies... why would I love other things than that if I'm on newground? I'm not a fan of forums, but I do get here sometime...

I would gather the Audio Forum regulars and, with their help, fix everything about the Audio Portal. It has too many problems and loopholes to be taken seriously at the moment.

Not really, everything seems as fresh as ever and I like it just fine!

I first learned about newgrounds from a classmate in my computer class in 2005, people in that class were obssesed with finding game sites to play instead of doing schoolwork.

the thing i enjoy most about newgrounds is the fact that it is based by animators and programmers, for animators and programmers

if i ruled NG for a day i would probably finish the chat, and fix the store, because for some reason i cant buy a t-shirt. I would also get rid of the fucking huge front-page ads

When I first discovered the internet back in the day, I played a lot of flash games off of flash dump/stealing sites. A few had newgrounds logos in them, saying things like "if this isn't on newgrounds it's stolen!!!!!!". Eventually I checked out this site and here I am.

What do you most enjoy about the site?
Newgrounds is very good at getting the best flash on the web first. There's really no site out there that has an even remotely similar function. I also love the way the reviews and ratings are streamed right onto the page of the flash.

Not much. Really, I think the sites good as is. Maybe a cap on flash posters whose flash is consistently spammy. And maybe a restriction on crappy flash (here's looking at you, hentaibrutalrape), from winning awards and money. As long as it's stolen images and not original work, why should the flash submitter get anything?

There used to be different components of reviews if I remember correctly. I remember them mostly being pointless, but maybe sections like "plot" and "animation" for toons and "gameplay" and "sound" for games and such.

We watched a couple funny movies, but we didn't know that some of them were more, risque, than others. After a while, my parents caught on, blocking the site, and Newgrounds became a thing of the past...that is until ~5 years ago.

There were a lot of people all around this one computer and it was showing the first ever episode of madness combat. We laughed so hard at the funny music mixed in with the gore, that our teacher came over. He laughed too, but told us not to get caught with it. I went to the site where I originally saw it on. No, it wasn't Newgrounds, it was this place called Flash Archive.

Long story short, in search of new madness episodes it led me here, and another 2 years later I decided to sign up.

I would change the scouting system for the art portal. I hate it because I don't see why flash and audio can just submit and have their stuff up relatively fast while artists have to wait forever to be scouted. IDK, it just erks me.

Id also add a spam portal where everything is instantly saved except for illegal things ( CP/presedent death threats etc.)

I learned about newgrounds when my uncle was on it once.
I enjoy the great community and animations. The admins are helpful all the time
I would change the portal. No, nothing big. Something in your dreams, such as an auto spam blocker.
I really miss some things. A few animations, and many animators.

It's a nexus of creativity.

Even something as simple as a sprite flash is an exercise in the flash author's creative expression, and there are endless possibilities. Huge powerhouses of talent come in, like MindChamber, HotDiggidyDemon, and HappyHarry to name only a few, and they inspire these kids and adult users alike to do incredible things. The more and more talent this site's users, features, and reputation rakes in, it just sets the standards higher and higher.

My friend, Thomas, had a pretty iffy opinion about his own metal music. I suggested he uploaded his stuff to the Audio Portal to gain feedback, and all of his songs are high-scoring. "You are your own worst critic," but it pretty much developed his first fan-base for his solo work.

...and quite frankly, it took way too long for there to be an Art Portal on here. As it develops, it's only going to expand the creative potential of this site further and further.

1. Collab capabilities in the Audio Portal.

4. A hybrid icon picture in the forums that indicate a small badge for your Blam/Protect rank, and a "Sex - M/F" under sign-up date.

Lol...well now that you mention it...yeah. If there could be a pop up, mini animation for blamming submissions similar to JohnnyUtah's legendary Angry Face icon pop up, that would be cool...but all in all, the site has drastically improved over the years. Maybe if there were a newer animated flash portal header.

#1 - Learned about Newgrounds from a neighbor on my floor in my dorm room sophomore year. I think he was showing me one of the Pandemic games, and I got hooked.
#2 - I mostly enjoy playing the different games. It's a good way to pass the time during the day. I especially like the medals for some games (gives me something to shoot for).
#3 - Since I mostly just play games, I can't think of anything that needs fixing, nor would I change anything. I like the site the way it is. :-)
#4 - The only thing that I miss is how you would click the link to play a game on its page and it would pop-up, instead of being embedded. I have an older laptop, and I think this aspect slows my computer down a lot. I know I can make it pop out, but it feels like too much of a hassle now. Probably my one grievance, but nothing real major.
