Nah I think most changes were for the better. I do miss a lot of funnier people on the forum who has seemed to fade away :(

I first learned about NewGrounds when I was only nine years old. My older cousin showed me the site, and my first experiences were with some quite... well, needless to say messed up things for a nine year old to be witnessing. I'm not going to get into a huge rant about this, but I regard Newgrounds as sort of my original internet family, and I truly have learned a lot from this community. Despite the ridiculous amount of stupidity that lurks here (No one can deny this), there is a lot of intelligence that dwells here too. Obviously this site would not have the same effect on everyone as it did me, but personally it taught me a lot, and it always gave me someone to go to since it's much easier to turn to a lot of unbiased and anonymous people for help than people in real life for some problems.

Without NewGrounds I would absolutely not be who I am today. And besides all of this, I love the content, the games, the animations, the community, everything about it is amazing.

Given one day at the reins of the site, what would you change, what would you fix?

Is this assuming that I have "unlimited power?" Or are we literally talking what I could actually accomplish in one day if I ran the site? Because if I had the ability I would get the chat going, and instate the literature portal. These are the only two things I can really think of. Maybe I would put an edit function on the forum (One where after a certain amount of time you're not longer allowed to edit).

Honestly I miss the old motto: The problems of the future, today! I mean "Everything, By Everyone" is true and nice and all, but when I think of Newgrounds I always think of the original motto first.

I first learned about newground's thru a friend of mine, he had showed the the Xiao Xiao Animations from a site that hosted them other than newgrounds. I searched for stick figure animation and instead of the site he had showed me found newgrounds.

Mostly the forums, and the game sections of the flash. I really enjoy just having a game running while I am doing reports, or posting on various sites.

I would probably give some mods a talking to, but despite that there is really nothing I can look at and say I HATE THIS about newgrounds, for along time, I used to be a bit of a bitchy whiner, but when I thought about it? I keep coming here, and enjoy it so what do I really have to bitch about?

To be honest, there is nothing I would love to see back, I would like though, if there was a way for users to remove the banner ads, maybe if they paid something like 10 dollars a year or something then they won't see the banner ads, and then give them something extra, like maybe the ability to change there posts, but I guess that would fall under things I would change given a day at the reigns.

It was 2002, my senior year in High school, and I don't know why but my buddy and I were just hanging out in the math class with the teacher out and we were mess around with her computer. We weren't doing anything wrong, just playing online games and such. Lo and behold we came across Newgrounds.com

I specifically remembered playing Pico School and Pico vs. Uberkids (I'm sure there were others too...). After that I didn't come back to Newgrounds until October 2003 when I was in college. I finally signed up in November because I had to absolutely review and comment on some flashes that I saw; presto I'm trapped here. :)

What do you most enjoy about the site?
The forums nowadays, despite it's amateurishness and it's shortcomings it's still a good place to hang out in the internet world. More specifically, I like to hang out in the Wi/Ht?; I guess I'm just altruistic like that and get a kick in helping out people. Secondary, the Portal because of all the flashy goodness that comes out of it. I still enjoy playing games and watching movies, and it's still the place to see some great animations on the internet.

Given one day at the reins of the site, what would you change, what would you fix?
There isn't much I would change but given a chance I would make it so that you can't file swap your flash unless you have a certain Batting Average or that you have been on the site for a set time. I'm not sure it will solve anything, but it's a hurdle and more hurdles will only aid in stopping spam flashes.

Is there anything you miss, that you'd like to see back?
Not only would I love to see the old blam and save animation but also the old whistle animation too.

I can't really say what I would want back from the old days because in the past it was always seemed everything was tied together with a string ready to fall apart. I mean there were so many "code 3" errors per day that it would boggle any newcomer's mind in how we coped with it. Of course there are several users that have moved on that I would love to see back, but as far as site-wise, things are good now and everyone should be grateful.

I first learned about Newgrounds around the middle of 2005. I didn't really get off my ass and make an account until '06, though.

I think that my favorite thing about the site is the abundance of games that populate the site. There are quite a few games, and most of them are decent quality.

Well, I would make a pair of ads that stretched from the very top of the page, all the way down to the bottom, just to see the user reaction.

There isn't anything that I miss, really. I haven't been around long enough to really miss anything.

I started making short sprite animations in Fireworks around early '04, and a friend of my brother's showed me this site to submit them onto. I never did submit them, but I've been on here since, having found some animations that I really enjoyed (These, for the most part, were LegendaryFrog's and MetalMaverick's works, so kudos to them).

I love the general forum, when it has good threads, and the quality works on here, be it art, music or flash.

Well, having submitted a lot of audio, I cannot help but hate the Audio voting system, since it has far fewer voters than the flash forum. This means it's more susceptable to 0-bombing, meaning a lot of quality work goes under the radar. I would add some form of experience to the audio portal, simply to attract larger numbers of voters.

Very little really. It was a shame to lose the animated sigs, and the old B/S animations were awesome. Apart from that, I think the redesign is much better than the older Newgrounds I signed up to.

Nothing, I would suck at maintaining this website. The staff here already works super hard at doing the best they can, and I don't think I could manage any better.

Yea, I wish we could get those old animations back, those were dank. I would also love it if the auras would go back to being determined by your voting. But that won't happen since people are stupid and would just vote to blam or save only to get those auras, so maybe it should only apply to votes after a flash has passed.

I would like for updates to the lit section to be made, that hasn't happened since 2006!

Submitting my games and watching the page on auto-refresh until 5am to see my daily placing (usually to be beaten by hentai at the last minute).

In a day? Nothing probably, but some suggestions in general:

Redesign the whole site to wide view, the inconsistency annoys me. Make us of this on the main page with 100x100 icons.

Add some kind of friends system, not turn NG into a social networking site, but sometimes I want to save users for PMing (the buddy system isn't effective for this as it was designed for collabing).

Change the Flash controls from Flash to JavaScript, I use FlashBlock and find it annoyingly pointless to have to allow it every time I want to maximize a movie.

The Alpha's section, I think its still there but it was broken last time I tried. Bring it back and update it to a full beta testing platform for games, as well as being extremely useful this would increase the overall quality of Newgrounds content if everyone started using it to properly test and improve their work.

Make it so you're able to check how your submissions are doing whilst under judgement (score, respond to reviews, etc) Take some of that tension away.
Also, a bit more love for the PNGs would be nice.

-That it was a website posting titles of a new concept in flash games called "Dating-Sims" someone showed me a dating sim game and I was like "what the hell?" Oddly enough, the Pico Sim date was pretty addictive to play.

-The AMAZING flash movies and games. I still hold record of highest score in some games. Some games I would love to see on counsel as for the movies on the big-screen. It frustrates me why they aren't yet.

The thing that i love about Negrounds is the multi-culturality of the site. I mean, there's everything and there's everyone.

The audio portal needs to be more perfect like the flash portal or the art portal.

I don't really miss the other things from the past. I just think that newgrounds keep getting better and better

I first learned about NG kind of late in 2007, when I was playing Newgrounds Rumble on another site and wanted to find out who all the characters were. I've been visiting the site almost everyday since.

What I enjoy the most about the site? The whole indie-ness of it all. I've always hated the mainstream crap; music, clothes; tv shows, everything. NG is huge, and still isn't mainstream, which rocks.

If i had the site for a day, I would probably ask the users what they would do to make the site better (ironic, no?) since I'm not the best thinker.

As a relatively new user, I can't really say much about the older features. Though i hate all those ads on the side of the Homepage.

The General forum. Flashes are all well and great, and I love the award system and all the opportunities that NG gives to its authors but General is where all the action is. What makes it even better is that General isn't a clusterfuck of authors, but a mix of the audience and creators alike. It isn't focused on a single topic, like the rest of the forums, and it's more laid back.

Plus I've picked up plenty interesting news stories from bumming around the BBS.

Nothing. Well, nothing about the site layout itself.

If anything I'd start a spam collection. I don't know why but usually spam flashes are funnier than the actual movies that get submitted, and some are even more visually appealing too. They may just be loops, or screamers, or trolls but many of the spam users are decent artists. Plus spam is fun, and actually a good way to train yourself to work with flash. I even have a spam alt myself; and I consider some of my spam flashes to be significantly funnier than some of my actual works.

Other than that I'd slap a BBS ban on the religious bashing topics that are only made to bash whatever religion the OP has a problem with. The legitimate ones are OK, but for every one pro-religion/actual anti-religion topic there are 5 trolling religion bashing ones.

The old blam/save animations, defiantly. I'd even remake them myself if I had the chance.

ANIMATED SIGS, fuck yes. Seizure-inducing .GIF sigs were awesome. Well, maybe not the flashing ones but a lot of .GIF sigs were pretty creative, considering they couldn't be that long.

But other than those I think everything so far has been an improvement.

The overall community of the site. How we all treat each other for the most part as fellow comrades. Also how none cha lat it is to contact the staff weather its just to say hi or say there is a problem. We can relate to them because they themselves act like fellow site users instead of most websites with flash based content where you have no idea who the hells in charge except maybe an message from an anonymous administrator with something like the servers are down.
