When did you first learn about Newgrounds?
High school (roughly 2002, but I didn't know what it was specifically that I'd been going to until 2003)
What do you most enjoy about the site?
The exchange of information available on this site. That's the best I can do with out going into detail. Obv. I like playing games. I like the flash movies for their entertainment value and occasionally I appreciate them just for the talent it took to make them. But the reason I come to this site over others is that I can submit work or an idea and get a response because people come here to respond and I usually get something interesting or unexpected. Be this, flash, art, writing, or posting on the forums, I'm here mostly because Newgrounds is a gigantic forum for many things and is organized enough that I don't feel overwhelmed.
Given one day at the reins of the site, what would you change, what would you fix?
To me, one of the best things this site could do is make it easier to navigate from one place to another. The separation of the site is key to keeping it organized, but I think in someways it could be better integrated to encourage people to stay here. For instance, the way games and movies are organized after they leave the portals leave the content there largely untapped and hard to navigate. A lot of the searching techniques on the site are limited. The art portal again, has this fault. When you visit the art portal you see however many pieces are immediately viewable at the front of each list you attempt to navigate to. There is little ability to organize the content in a way that makes sense.
The best thing newgrounds could do is create "user collections." User collections would be lists of movies and or games that the users feel are related. Any user may take any other user's collection and add it to his and any user may have any number of collections. Then there would be a system for navigating those collections and grouping similar collections by keywords the users could put in it.
In this way new things would always be tied into the system. Its easy to see how you could have a bot that creates a collection for each week, day, month, year and something like that would make the site 40% better. (Also, consider the Album on facebook) it would be similar.
Is there anything you miss, that you'd like to see back? (I.E. Old Blam/Save Animations)
I think Alphas & NGMag was underdeveloped or not marketed or built correctly and I'd like to see that return eventually.
