Alright, glad to be on board guys :)
I'm a part of the Cell team.

One thing that I didn't see before was that his will be "verticle" level...?
I'm not sure exactly what that means.

Does that just mean through the gameplay, you movie from the bottom of the screen towards the top, as opposed to left to right.
Also, I'm guessing that mean's we're either dealing with a top-down view, or a 2/3rds view.
Just some basic questions I should probably clarify before I start concepting some art.

Mobs come from top, player shoots upwards.

What's the screen dimensions?

BoM is going to work that stuff out when he can.

In the meantime, it would be great if everyone can get brainstorming on ship ideas, enemies, bosses, backgrounds, foregrounds and ideas for environmental hazards to fit with their theme.

Shweet, postapocalypse. Hmmm, I've been thinking... Perhaps there could be invulnerable enemies that either shoot bullets or other, smaller, enemies, then run off-screen?

My bad on the spelling, I noticed that after I posted D:
But okay, that makes much more sense. I was picturing this game like Metroid, running across a screen. But if you play as a spaceship this makes more sense.
Should enemies be like single-celled organisms? I guess that's something we can discuss as a team.

To pitch some ideas for the cell team to maul over a bit.
- Your ship is a pill of some kind fighting off infectious bacteria and viruses. Your inside an organism, fighting through it's digetive tract and such until you find a way out.
- Or YOUR the virus, and your trying to gain control of an organism. Like once you defeat whatever is protecting it's brain, you invade and take control of the organism.

Are all 6 levels going to have an interconnecting storyline? If so, than that will heavily affect the direction each level plays out

Oi Kraig, I just noticed to put M-Vero under two groups.
You might confuse him that way :P

Fixed it in the newspost, M-Vero is officially in Cyberpunk.

But not just any can and string. The can needs to be a Campbell's Tomato Soup can, and the string needs to be twine made of hemp.

One more thing for tonight:

Each team must choose their team leader by Saturday at 11:59 pm NG time. Try to come to a decision by then, if a team can't pick their leader by that time I will assign the leader.

And for the post apocalyptic group, if i see one single spaceship I'm breaking some arms.

wooo! PROGRESS!

I'll have my first demo built sometime soon, along with a special surprizzzzeee....

The demo will establish the framerate and stage settings as well as the hitareas for the player ship and floating guns.

Stay tuned!

He is doing quite well so far. Let him have it, you big baby.

I actually thought leaders had already been assigned. But, ToaS seems to be doing a fine job getting us all together under one roof. So I have no complaints. If anyone else wants to step-up for it, then maybe we can vote or whatever.
But for now I'm thinking he's doing a fine enough job :)

To others talking about how to talk to each other, the cell team is all getting together for a big group chat on MSN this Sunday. We're all going to bring ideas, and concepts so we can bounce ideas off each other. I've never planned something in this way before, and am really excited to work with everyone!

I don't want anyone to be confused with my playful banter. I'm all for Turkey being team leader, he's off to a great start and he's probably not as lazy as me. I also thinks he pulls seniority as far as artistic experience goes.

and as previously stated, he has a massive stick

Radiant Silvergun a amazing SHMUP that was one of the first to introduce a story to the game and also was highly acclaimed for it's polished look (made sometime in the late1990's. )

I added that video to the ideas page.

The sword in that game is a really novel idea, it's like a brawler mixed with shmup...whoa!

I only did it to get started :(
Think I remember something somewhere saying "the best team leader is the worst in their team".
So you can be team leader if you want, Ben. :0 :o :0

I just want to state to my team that I will not be team leader. Thank you.

Apart from that, I've read up about steampunk, studied steam engines, and i've gotten inspired by the vast majority of steampunk-stuff on the nets. I'm gonna brainstorm now.

To the Steampunk team, if you get a chance go watch the movies SteamBoy and Casshern. Both have absurdly awesome steampunk art in it, might give you some inspiration :D

I havent heard about Casshern, but Steamboy is an awesome steampunk-movie. Wasn't it like the most expensive anime to date when it was made?

Anyway, here's a quick steampunk-tank concept. Is this the style we should go after?
