Ethnicity?
I am. A lot. It's mostly because of my skin color, which is this really really light golden-brown color, and some of the time it's because none of my features really stand as common chracteristics of other races (eg. the "big nose" for italians.)
Sometimes it bothers me, because it's asked so much, to the point where everyone who has ever talked to me (aside from family) has asked me at least one time. But really, now I'm immune to it. And just In case you're wondering, my mom is black and like 1/4 white. My dad is half white and half cuban, which leads me to be some mix of Cuban, White, and Black.
So, I wonder, NG, how often are you asked about your ethnicity? Is the reason people ask because of a "pecuilar" trait about you? Whatis your ethnicity?

Not that often, yet some people say I looked kinda chinese when I was a really little
Never, ever. I'm white in a country that the majority of the people in it are white. I do get a few complaints about my accent, but that's a little different.

I get asked alot actually, but they usually assume things. The most common assumptions I get are Puerto Rican, Chinese, and Japanese. I don't understand that at all.

Only on the internet and if they hear my voice before they see me. I speak with a Hispanic accent and as far as I know I'm not.

Quite a bit. I have pretty brownish/tan type skin and people ask me all the time what I am. I'm usually asked if I'm mexican, but I'm half black half white :S
I always get asked at the beginning of the school year. For about a week I have to keep saying "I'm philipino." They mostly mistake me for Chinese or Japanese because I have squinty eyes and a light tan.
No I don't. Even if I had I look of another race apart from white, people wouldn't ask because its the inner city and everyone is scared of being accused of racism.

You wouldn't believe how many guesses I've had where my name is from, wild mispronounciations and misspellings.

People think I am Jewish, I'm not really sure why though, if anything, I guess it would be my big nose, but yeah, people ask me if I am Jewish.
When I told a lady my last name once, she said, "Well that doesn't sound very Jewish." Yeah, there is a reason for that.

I get asked this constantly while applying for jobs and grad school apps. Equal opportunity my ass, if race/gender wasn't a factor, they wouldn't ask for it so damn much.
