Why the fuck do they put uniforms? The only entertainment those kids get is making fun of the poor kid's clothes. You may think since I'm poor I'd like this but I like to beat up those kids who make fun of my hand me downs. Also stop stealing my sig.

I always wanted to attend a school in which in was required you wear a school uniform.
In sixth grade we had to write an essay about whether school uniforms should be essential or not and I was the only one in my class who supported the idea of uniforms.

I don't see how a Uniform would boost grades. I can see how a Uniform may inspire someone. But only in a field where one is necessary. Like the army, cops, etc.

Theirs no reason why an onlooker needs to know why you go a certain school. And kids need to learn to be socially competent without looking the same. Really, their are better ways to teach than that.

And uniforms aren't going to stop certain people from hating each other.

You'd still have social groups in school; and when I'm in school, I want to know that I can work comfortably. Uniforms are jut another way for authoirty to try and control the way we live.

All students hate uniforms, and being forced to wear them only makes them grow up to resent the whole concept of them.
Being snidely told by some underworked overpaid teacher to tuck your shirt in, straighten your tie, do this, do that, only leads students to detest authority even more.

i completely agree, except we dont wear ties... O.o

but people at our school are way too strict with the dress code bullshit. jesus christ, i feel like angus young with the uniform shit.... that and we both hate school THOROUGHLY! the only reason he would show up for school was for art. for me, its ROTC.... i could type up one of the letters thats printed on the back of the High Voltage album and you'll see why angus and his bro malcolm dropped out in the first place.

They implemented them here my junior year of school. I'd gotten away with regular clothes up until then.

I hated them. My grades didn't go up, it didn't make a damn bit of difference. meh

uniforms is too distracting...

there's a private school near our house that have uniforms for all students...but instead of helping, it made it worse, why?...consider this...the uniform for girls have skirts that is 5in. above the knee, which is about 1/2 way up for most girls...that is distracting for studying...i'm sure the school's boys will understand...

That happens even wihout uniforms...

You cant realy suggest or blame anything on clothing at all. "oh, i express myself!"

no you dont.

you wear a label made by someone else for someone else and probably wear it because you saw it, on someone else.

Clothing doesnt have to do shit with personality.

On topic, uniforms arent as bad as people say they are. For one, yeah. No more highschool whorish girl outfits, and no more 'HAH poor kid cant afford 'insert label here' clothes!'

They wont change grades, and they CERTAINLY dont cause fights. But for one, what could it do that is so bad?

OHHH NOOO I CANT WEAR WHATEVER I WANT? THE HORROR
what are you sacrificing? your outer looks, not even YOUR looks. your giving up the choice between inanimate objects.

I vote for uniforms.

yeah, the MAN is trying to put us down! WORLD PEACE MAN, REVOLUTION

what are you, stupid? "now that I have a uniform I lack any ability to think for myself

and who says uniforms are uncomfortable? my elementary uniform was a tee shirt and shorts.. not collarspiffy tee shirt, just regular shit.

Not to mention the lack of extra spending on clothing helps destroy the establishment of fashion which is specificaly designed to suck teen's wallets dry. with one less scenario in which 'personal flare' is required, then one less paycheck for 'the man'. so we're all winners.

England has been wearing school uniforms since time began. And we're the dumbest people in the world. So I don't think uniforms make you smarter.

It doesn't do anything good, but it doesn't do anything bad either. In that case, why waste the time and money on a policy which won't make a difference?

You're basing your argument on personnel opinions and bias against designer labels and whore clothes. Which is all well and good. Don't wear what you don't want. I agree that clothes mean little to nothing. But thats not something to base an official school policy on. We need to base them on facts, statistic. Does policy A have positive effect B? Yes? Go with it. Uniforms would only mean something if they could statistically proven to be prevalent in schools with higher preforming students. Than you'd have to single out the variables to make that Uniforms are the actual cause and not some third or forth element.

But, really, if clothes have no effect whatsoever on schools, as you said . Then we have no business regulating it. The school should never enforce uniforms based on the opinion that clothes don't truly mean self-expression. That should be left to the personnel opinion of the student. We need to create polices that help the greatest amount of students possible. We can't pass something just because it fruthers our personnel beliefs our agenda.

Well I've been in both types of schools and I must say I didn't really see a difference, but I do get the point they are trying to make.

The only people who have to wear uniforms in my school are the JROTC members, and thats only once a week anyways. i think something like that is the only time it's necessary.
