I had to wear school uniforms at three different schools for twelve years, so take it from me when I say that school uniforms are a complete waste of time and money.
They do absolutely nothing for the benefit of the student.
They are impractical; wearing a shirt, tie and jumper in summer makes it too hot to concentrate on anything.
All students hate uniforms, and being forced to wear them only makes them grow up to resent the whole concept of them.
Being snidely told by some underworked overpaid teacher to tuck your shirt in, straighten your tie, do this, do that, only leads students to detest authority even more.
There are always the kids who come from low-income homes who have to go for the cheaper alternatives for uniforms, like jumpers that look similair enough but don't bear the school logo, for example. This attempt to make them look as much like the other kids as possible only draws more attention to the fact that they couldn't afford the expensive official school uniform. It's not rocket science, these kids don't have a good time at school socially.
School uniforms are bourgeois crap.
