My top three would have to be :

(A tie between Penumbra and Dead Space, they both have their ups and downs)

1. Dead Space - Sets the mood really well, unique, and things tend to pop out and scream a lot.

2. Penumbra series - Sets the mood better than any game, in my opinion, its very dark. No weapons besides a pick axe, ever. So you have to get up close and personal with things(especially on hard mode, since things don't want to die either).

3. F.E.A.R. - Always has you wondering when "Alma" is going to come out again. Also the A.I. seems to always manage and sneak up behind you.

Whats the scariest for you, Newgrounds?

Meh, I am not that fast scared by games...
Not even Doom 3...
I think I get really scared by games when you turn around and there's a fast zombie in front of your face giving you a facepalm.

That's why I quit playing Half-Life 2...

Those Fatal Frame games scared me when I was younger, I want to find a scary game too, something that will terrify me, I doubt I ever will though. Any ideas?

It's called shock factor. Newer 'horror' games rely on that. There's no ambient creepiness anymore.

Lol really? I can play half life 2 on hard mode in my sleep...but then again ive replayed it countless times since it first came out in 2004.

Doom 3 is pretty scary, same with resident evil remake for the gamecube.

Protip: Play scary games when you are constipated...problem solved.

I'd have to go with Half-Life. I mean, it's not "scary",but I choose it in the sense that it's a game where the music, sounds, gameplay, etc really get you sucked into the game and it's a different experience.

Video-editing, animating, gaming.....that's a balanced diet.

I'll give you that, the shock factor technique only gives me the "scare" the first time...
Myst (a pretty cool puzzle game) had the Ambient creepiness, it was such an amazing story, that I kinda was creeped out while walking through the levels...

When I was young Resident Evil 2 used to scare the absolute shit out of me, now I'd probably say the Silent Hill games.

I don't own any scary games, but I was rather creeped out by the music in the flash game "Alice is dead". I expected a sreamer the whole way through.

CoD zombies would probably be the worst though. It is quite scary to turn round and see a zombie trying to FUCKING EAT YOUR FACE!
