Hey, i want to start making audio again, and my earlier submissions kind of sucked. Since my free trial of mixcraft is over, I want a good quality music program that can:

make custom loops and beats
mix audio files
record from voice
and is 50$ or under.

well... i have a program that is the best one you can get at low cost, and its free :D

reaper should do the trick.
easy to learn and good workflow.

however, your music will still suck if you dont have good plugins within reaper.
kvr audio is a good site to get your plugins.
i prefer ymvst, v-station and superwavep8. just search them on kvr audio.

a list to get you started

you can always try the demo of fl studio. it allows you to do everything exept saving the project file.
it even renders at high quality for you :D

Raper isn't free, it costs 60$!

It looks really good but I only have 50$! how is it free in any way other than a free trial which will inevitably end before I learn how to fully use it!

thats the fun thing about reaper!
just like winrar it will expire but fully be usable. after 30 days it sais that you have to buy it but you dont have to. because you can still use it on evaluation mode or something.

believe me it doesnt expire!

The FL Studio comes with 100% functions and you have unlimited access. You cannot save your project files before you buy it, though.

I recommend ReNoise if you want a good DAW. It's hard to get used to, but if you get it down it's real fun to make music with, it has a good layout and sound engine, and I THINK it's only $20. Not sure though.

That was mean lol. OP, look into Reaper or Mu.Lab.

Mu.Lab is free.

Can someone post me an example of a song made in Reaper? I use FL, but I've always been curious, because I'd like to see if other programs are better... Truthfully, I'd prefer Logic or Reason, but ah well, that's far off yet.

As far as I know, Reaper is similar to Cubase, but without the awesomeness of Cubase. Then again, this is drawn solely from screenshots of the program; I've never used it.

It's certainly not bad though. It's a complete DAW, and pretty damn cheap for what it does.

Cubase actually use to be THE MIDI-based software, whilst ProTools was the recording-software - back in the days when none of the softwares actually could deal about equally good with both parts.

Cubase is way more than 50USD however, though there are slim versions that usually comes for free buying some kind of hardware. I don't know what the desl is with Cubase 5 out now though, haven't followed nor upgraded...
