It took us 2 1/2 hours to bury him. It was drizzling and we planted Mongolia seeds on his grave.
Ironically, I was watching Monty Python's The Meaning of Life when he died.
He was 15 years old, and he was only a month form being 16.
What a shame, Mister Jensen.
I never asked for this, Mister Denton.

It was weird. I didn't cry. I felt bad, he was around all my life, but I didn't cry. It just got me wondering.
What a shame, Mister Jensen.

Hmmmm, that is tragic. Well Mr. Shite can be your pet! SHA

Sorry, I still got four dogs, and one's going to have puppies by the end of the month.

Never had a pet before, but I think it might be a little bit sad to lose one.
So, sorry for your loss.

That's perfectly normal. We all grieve in our own way. My sentiments to you and your family.

Damn that was one old dog. Did it make you sad to see it go?
Life is a beautiful thing. I'm sure your dog enjoyed it's time with you man...

Good, crying over pets past a certain age is stupid.

Oh, son of a bitch, that's wild.

Well, that's a hell of a good run for a dog. He definitely had his good times on earth, and he spent it with a family that cared about him. In the end, what else could a dog hope for other than to live long and be loved the whole time?
The burial you gave him seems fitting to me, if only for the dramatic aspects. The only animals I've buried are fish (I found flushing them to be barbaric when I was a child, and thought that god fish deserved a good Christian burial) and a couple of hamsters (buried them in my backyard in the dead of fucking winter, my area already has somewhat rocky/gravelly soil once you get more than a couple of inches deep, it was worse when the ground was frozen solid as well).
When my family dog died, I think he was either 10 or 11 years old, and he was the first family dog my family ever had. I remember going with my family to the pet store to look for dogs and we found what would be named Gizmo, a Japanese Chin who resembled an infant Gremlin from the movie "Gremlins". After a few visits and a price reduction, we had a dog. He died of Dog Enlarged Heart syndrome or something like that when I was in high school. We had him cremated and we put the canister of ashes beneath the flower bed in front of our house.
It's always hard to lose a pet, I'm very sorry for your loss.
Yeah, whatever.

Aw that sucks man. It's terrible that we outlive our best friends. I suggest you watch this.
Also, when my dog died, I put on Queen's "Who Wants to Live Forever" to set the stage for my melancholy, and it fit very well. The instrumental version of it (just titled "Forever") is also very good. Both sad songs, yes, but good for this kind of situation because of it's message of eternal life being unsavory after all.

I had a dog that died a couple years ago (he made it to seventeen) and I cried just last week because it had been exactly two years and I found an old video of him. That's stupid? (I'm 19 and we'd had him since I was born) You must be a serial killer with a heart of stone or something.
yeah, my dog died two years ago, a week before he was 10, we had to put him to sleep because his back was all fucked up (I think he had 5 hernia's).
I felt all crap too at that time, now we have a new dog tough so I dont miss him much anymore...

nope, just an internet tough guy, I would like to see you say it in his face, basterd

Sometimes people who die want you to see something to die. Then they mark it with their death... Maybe it means something...
War does not determine who is right - only who is left.
It's funny. People say something about a person being killed or dieing and 5/10 of the first responses will be people saying how funny it is. When people tell others their dog died, people sympathize and actually post that they are sorry.
On another note, my first dog died in a fire. Since then we have bought 2 more. I hate them both. I don't remember if I cried or not when my first dog died. We had her for around 10 years maybe.

Serial killer because I think crying at pets is stupid? Once you're at an age of maturity you'll realize that pets are replaceable, I'm not saying that you can't grieve or be upset when they die but to breakdown and cry over it is stupid.

A living creature that you have known for over 15 years of your life. Something you've long since grown attached to. Something that you've probably spent time with every day of your life. Crying over that is stupid?

15 years, that would mean you was very young. Read again.
I've lost 10 pets, I only cried at 2 because I was young and they started dropping off like bomb shells, different circumstances when you only have 1.
