Gordon Freeman Won Against Mario

Now I made a pledge that if Gordon beat Mario, then it's official that the fact that this gaming "community" doesn't know shit about shit. You see, Gordon can get his dick sucked all he wants for starring in a game that "revolutionized FPS's" but without Mario, WE WOULDN'T HAVE ANY FPS's. Mario gave video games a new image, he replaced the corrupted one made by Atari, and proved once again why we had all gotten into Video Games in the first place.

Besides, everybody can trace SOMETHING from Mario. For instance, Mario featured the first ever in game puzzle in a non-puzzle game, remember castle's 4 and 8? Yeah, that was never seen before. Never before had anyone added just a sudden genre blend like that. And another thing, Mario contained the first actual story that was an actual story. It was simple, it definably didn't have any ending sequences where Peach asks you if you want to work with her or no, then and if you say yes she sends you to an alternate dimension, but we all have to start from somewhere.

Anyways, I mean, I don't get it. A PLUMBER THAT SHOOTS FUCKING FIRE BALLS OUT OF HIS HANDS vs,. A Geek with a crowbar, IT'S FUCKING OBVIOUS WHO SHOULD WIN. I mean, seriously, Mario also pretty much came up with the idea of regerating health with the mushrooms. Back then, nobody had come up with the idea of "you screwed up, you don't HAVE to loose this life, you can get that mushroom again." Imagine how "revolutionary" Half Life would've been with you recieving one shot kills? Not really, right? Anyways, unlike Gordon, Mario affected ALL OF VIDEO GAMES. Everything Half Life is associated with is FPS EXCUSIVE. Mario's ideas affected MULTIPLE genres. Metroid took the idea of platforming, gave it a gun, added more adventuring, and there you go. Megaman did the same thing as Metroid, except it added more weapons, and even MORE emphasis on platforming. LoT took the idea of hidden passageways and areas, scattered it everywhere, and called itself a revolutionary adventure game.

And like I said earlier, either way, MARIO IS WHO DIRECTED THE ATTENTION TO NINTENDO, WITHOUT MARIO, NINTENDO WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SO POPULAR, WITHOUT NINTENDO BECOMING POPULAR, THE VIDEO GAMING CRASH WOULD'VE NEVER ENDED THE SAME WAY, WE WOULD NOT HAVE THE SAME VDIEO GAMES. THINK about all the revolutionary games that were made on the NES! Mike Tyson's Punch Out, LoT, Megaman, Famicom Wars, Metal Gear, Ghosts n' Goblins, Bomberman, Kirby's Adventure, Tetris (the popular version,) and like 100 billion more. This ALL wouldn't exist if the NES was a flop, Mario was the PROOF that there was something IN THE NES that made it different. Without the NES, all the consoles that came afterwords WOULDN'T HAVE. People would've seen video games as a passing trend.

Voting for Gordon has become the greatest insult to Video Games in the history of any fan driven event.

seriously, i understand its hard to take mario seriously because everyone wants to be one of those hardcore gaming faggots who think that fps > platformers and all that gay shit, but at the very least a nintendo mascot should have won. i mean i understand there's that recycling characters complaint about using the same 6 characters or so in like 10 franchises, but being honest theres a definite reason why they are inovative:

samus is innovative in that she invented the notion of free roaming platformers without having a definite path
link popularised, maybe invented free roaming adventure gameplay.
kirby was great for adding all sorts of elements to platformers
captain falcon practically perfected first person racing on home consoles as early as the SNES
donkey kong perfected platformers at the time of its release and has only gotten better since
sonic completely reinvented platform gaming with the addition of making you go fast for christ sakes

and mario. theres plenty to be said about him. he invented platforming for christ sakes, and he pretty much repopularised gaming after the atari fucked it over by sucking so much.

what did gordan do. he perfected fps' a couple years back? fuck that, mario perfected platforming twenty years before that.

How the fuck can the biggest icon in video game history and the sole purpose of video games being popular once more have lost the race to Gordan Freeman? I understood the contest, and it was also to put account the hero's contributions to gaming, and even then, Mario's fireballs WOULD BURN GORDON ALIVE!

Mario is the greatest hero. He actually inspires people of all ages and shows anyone can do great and heroic things, even if it is a cartoony way. Besides, this was a popularity contest either way, so Mario should've won indefenitvely.

Now look at Gordon.
