Audio would be a track consisting of only 5 unique notes!

I REALLY wanna do something for this. I've been trying, but I just can't seem to come up with anything.
I think my brain is broked! :'(

If anyone has to come up with something, it's you! Yours was probably the best in Shades of Green!! :)

What I did was go to the dictionary here and read the list of definitions. Suddenly a LOT of ideas sprang to mind. Too many. I had to cut most and start story-boarding my final plan so I wouldn't get side tracked...

Now that I think about it, that's probably a little weird. I came up with the theme word without having an idea in my head to start. Ah well.

Well I've done a bit and will post an example it a bit later on during the week.
But for now I'll just show everyone THIS, which is Catoblepas style, but is slightly similar to my 5SoO submission.

Still got to work out a storyboard for this. It'll be the first bit of animation I've done in years, and trying to work the song I want with the visuals and kind of story I want around the word 'ring' is proving challenging.

That and the song I want is six minutes long (and commercial...) so some severe cutting is required

Anyway. If people are struggling with needing to use AS3 but can only develop in Flash 8, I'll offer to help with migrating and translating code between AS versions even if I end up dropping out of the collab.

Well... my laptop stopped working, when I turn it on the power light and everything comes on but the screen just stays blank!!!
I should be able to get the data off of the comp and finish my part in time though.

My laptop is an Acer Aspire one if anyone has any idea how I can fix it please tell me.

Hopefully since it's still a month to deadline you'll make it. I had some trouble with an old laptop that did similar things. It turns out a connection was just loose inside. It was fixed, but when it broke again it couldn't be repaired a second time. Sad face.

Does it make noises like an OS starting? Maybe just the screen came disconnected. If you have a monitor, you should try hooking it up to that to see if it might just be the laptop screen.

Although this collab sounds cool, I'd rather if I didn't join. Besides, I'm already in the Sketch Collab 2009.

The monitor couldn't detect anything. It's happened before on startup but I could just turn it off and on again and everything would be good.
Does anyone know how much an external harddrive enclosure would be and if ti would work??

Also, sorry for using gradient in the close-up I realize some people think that it is not in good taste for this kind of thing. BUT it is a gradient from one color in our pallet to another.

The facial expressions and the shading style are brilliant.
I reckon you should redo the suns eyes so it fits more.
I don't really know where the story could go either.

How about he gets a cylincical prisim and places the ring on it.
Then eyes and a mouth appear and it starts jumping around.
Then together they hop to an icecream stand and then they're friends.
Or instead of them going to an icecream stand they could buy some lsd then consume the lsd then everything starts wobbling around and they start seeing things. LOL!!

Once all animations are submitted I will put them up and link them from this thread. Then everyone who created one gets to vote for their top 5. (I think it's five, I'll go check the old thread when the deadline gets closer.) You can't vote for yourself. Anyone is allowed to chime in, but only the vote from those who enter are counted. And so far the best of the entries have ended up getting in the other Shades collabs, so make it fantastic! (I don't know the number of entries that will be included. It depends on the total number of submissions. Past ones were anywhere from 6 to 15 I think, with green being the most I think.)

It can be about anything, but the theme word is "Ring" so include something to do with any interpretation of that. Be it jewelery, a bell ringing, a ring around the bathtub... You could even do a scene with aliens set on the rings of Saturn or something. Sky's the limit.

Wow, that's looking great so far! Nice. Let's see, story ideas...

- He could go off and bring in a female ball-person and be all proud that he has the ring for her, and she could get irate and have a little word bubble that shows a hand and a NO sign, saying she doesn't have fingers, so he gets all upset and has to figure out a plan to make the ring work for her.
- He could take the ring and run off, and then have a bird land with his fiance looking for it and have to track him down.
- He could bring back a shovel and dig a hole and plant the ring, then you could have a montage of him watering it and tending to it over time, and then it grows into a ring tree, which explains where the original came from (a bigger ring tree next to it!)

You've got an awesome start with a million possibilities from there! Heck, I'm just having fun thinking up crazy places to go from that point.

You guys have some crazy ass Ideas! I like the "ring tree" idea! I will think about it a bit more.

I was thinking, if this collab is a success we could make a "five shades of yellow" And it could be based on "heroes"

about that idea, he could try giving her one of those #1 baseball hands, but it would keep falling off her head, he then would bring something else ramdom, and at last, he would make a robot arm, and give it to her, she would then hug him, and they would leave happy :D

It can mean any type of ring, jewlery, sound, could be ringworm or bluering octopus.

Its supposed to be a story taking place in the reflections on a ring around which the story revolves.
Don't be influenced by the simple animation so far; I plan to escalate it quite a bit. There will be many more characters on the ring, although the ring itself will not move until the end.

Let me know what you guys think and be honest so I don't sink more time into a video that no one likes, if that happens to be the case.

That's really good. Great idea you've got going. The music fits really well too.
The lines seem a bit jagged, I would smooth them but that'll probably take a while.
So far it's great, can't wait to see the rest of it :D
