I need a way to lose weight. I have too much fat on my stomach. I bike every day for at least an hour and eat nothing but salad, bread, pasta, and occasionally meat. I still can't lose weight! Help!

You need to start running your weight off. Run 5 times a week, increasing your distance or speed each week. After three or four weeks you should start noticing results. After 2-3 months you should start REALLY noticing results.

No, I don't know how many calories I take in.
When I bike, I go over huge hills that are in my area, across grass and usually can get about 3 miles in before I run out of time. (I'm busy)
Also, I'm seriously considering poxpower's diet plan, but I don't know if I will have enough energy to continue my active lifestyle.

Salad can be extremely caloric and fattening - bread, pasta, and meat almost always are.

Quantity is also an issue. Only eat as much as you need to to avoid feeling tired.

well, you probably eat more calories than you realize, especially if you eat a lot of pasta and bread. i'd figure out a good number of calories per day for yourself and then start counting them.

I can try that. Right now I weigh about 212 (ouch) and I'm only about 5'10"

Seriously. Just starve your self. Bring your portions down and stop eating sweets. All these people can preach blah blah blah exercise blah blah blah calories, but women starve themselves all the time. That's why they get skinny and beautiful. If some stupid bitch can do it, why can't you?

Try busting out some crunches and addition if you want to target the stomach.

Only eat enough to sustain life, work off of those 6 hour energy drinks, and try swimming, which burns about 700 calories/hour. As for food, I reccommend anything that has no color or flavor. That stuff tends to work best. I am not kidding or exaggerating.

Bad bad bad idea. Color is good, particularly variety in color, as it denotes different nutrients: red union (purple), carrot (orange), tomato (red). In fact... the less color and less flavor there is to your lettuce, the less nutritious it is: iceberg lettuce.

We want nutrition. We don't want fat and excess calories.

Only eat pasta, bread, etc BEFORE you work out, because they have carbs. Then eat things with protein after.

Starving yourself makes your body create more fat cells to feed the body. That's why it's not that simple.

How about soda? Did you know a casual user of soda can reduce calorie intake by 50,000+ calories a year by just replacing soda with water. I've had friends who lost 20 pounds withing the month or year simply because of replacing soda with water.

Also, cut out the bread. The more you can go without it the better. That stuff stays in your stomach for a long time.

My father used to be a doctor and his one recommendation was NOT RUN. Running vigorously puts a lot of strain on you knees and lower back. You'll suffer because of this in the long run, especially in late adult hood.

You should consider swimming. Your muscles are pulling the equivalent of your body weight. But because of the medium you only feel as if you using 1/5th of your energy. The upshot of this is you see rapid fat loss and rapid muscle gain.

It is especially useful to those looking to train upper body and quads.

Also consider long term dieting takes several months before you notice dramatic weight loss. What ever you do, DO NOT crash diet or fast. This will cause temporary weight loss only which will eventually be counter productive to loosing weight permanently.

I can back that up. When I swam and ran in a pool I was by far in the best shape of my life. Not only did I have more energy and was in better shape and it was so much easier on my knees and legs, but at the same time it gave me a better workout because of the weight of the water pushing back(compared to running on land).

Lose the fast food. At the very least eat it very rarely (say once a month). Aim for drinking more water or juice as opposed to Pepsi or other sugary drinks.

Also, don't eat anything late at night, give yourself a cutoff time in the evening of at least 3 hours or so before you plan on going to bed.

Keep up with the exercise and be patient, it'll be some weeks before you see results (or other people notice them) so don't get discouraged.
