Why do people use their hands when

It makes them more animated while speaking and emphasizes what they are saying. The best public speakers use hand gestures very well to get their points across.

And if you don't like people using hand gestures while speaking, avoid Italians.

Have you ever had any real, actual, outside human contact? Or are you just some asshole, and the guy is doing something else while talking to you and you assume he wants to shake your hand and hug you.

It's pretty sub conscience really, I don't believe that you can stand there and tell a story without using your arms and hands. I would probably have trouble telling the story because I was so focused on not moving my hands.

I move my hands a lot when I talk. I am not sure why, I always have.

I remember when I was a child being in many situations where I would have to explain something to an adult, and despite my perfectly-understandable explanations, they still wouldn't "get it" and so maybe I would subconsciously start moving my hands a lot to try and show them whatever it was they needed to know.

Teachers, especially. I recall explaining a situation to a teacher or mine, and he re-interpreted it in his own head, and said it back to me and made it sound completely different from what I'd said in the first place.

It actually can be useful. Just today I talked to my grandma who is extremely hard of hearing and talked real loud while showing what I was saying.

Also, it's not really on purpose you know. It's called a habit. I do it a lot because the way I think is visual. Sometimes if I have a piece of paper in front of me, I'll write a few words that I'm saying without thinking about it. I love seeing things in front of me, dunno why.

I do it. It helps put emotion into the situation. Talking with your hands down by your sides is boring.
