I downloaded some file my friend sent me, and AVG said it was a virus. My friend (whom i know in real life therefore would not do this to me intentionally) said he uses it and it is not a virus. I disabled AVG, then the file crashed my computer. When i finally restarted it, I could not open AVG, and i cannot download any files from the internet. It will say download complete, but the files never appear where i save them. I have tried re-installing AVG but i keep getting these error messages. What should I do?

By the way I use Vista, and system restore did not help me at all. Also, I tried getting avg again, and when I open and click run, nothing happens.

Yep, looks like wiping your computer and starting fresh is your only option. Lesson learned...
#include <stdio.h>
char*p="#include <stdio.h>%cchar*p=%c%s%c;%cmain() {printf(p,10,34,p,34,10);}";
main() {printf(p,10,34,p,34,10);}

You are very patient aren't you?
Try asking a tech support forum rather than a programming forum if you urgently need help.

try getting avast, its a really good virus scanner, you have to disable UAC to make it remove some viruses tough (it can't remove your browsers cookies if there are viruses in there unless you disable UAC)

I can't, my computer won't let me download anything. I try to save the file, it loads, and then the window just closes. The file is nowhere to be found. How do I fix this?

This person has the same problem as me. The question remains unsolved. Technical support can't help over the phone, and they want to send someone to my house to fix it, but it costs too much. Could anyone help with this problem?

Just gather all your important files, and reformat your computer.
That's a sure way to fix everything.

Ok sorry about my crazy posting, but i fixed it. If anyone encounters this problem, here is the solution. Restart the computer and run in safe mode (by hitting f8 at the splash screen) and then log on. Go to C:\, and hit program files. Go into the avg folder, and delete everything in it. one .dll file will not be able to be deleted though. After that restart your computer and run windows normally. You will find the you can now download files. Problem solved.
?: Why did this happen in the first place? Well, it appened because either AVG was installed incorrectly, or you tried to uninstall AVG and left the program files in your computer.
