That's what it felt like when I got my last two tattoos, even though the needle didn't get that close to the nipples. The only way I can describe it is a five-hour-long purple-nurple with needle nosed pliers while putting sewing needles into them like some sort of pin-cushion. Anyways, now I know that at least I'll never be getting a tattoo so close to the nipples ever again... The first tattoo is of Aries the Zodiac Ram sign of which I was born on the first day off/also I grew up on a sheep farm so it's all the more fitting. The second tattoo (got it 2 hours ago) is a celtic spiral design of a sun. I got both of these in Japan, and I plan on getting more (one on each shoulder, and a Kanji phrase going down my ribs). However since, I'm in Japan I'm considering getting a Traditional Japanese sleeve tattoo on my left arm since you can only get these in Japan...I'm going to be here for the next two years, so I have time to think about it though. (It also costs $3000).

Here's the pics... First is Aries (quality sucks because I took the pics with a video camera by myself)

And the Celtic Sun tattoo, (it's still covered in the plasticy-bandagy-thingy...the smudge is actually a "pool" of blood, ink, and puss build up...they told me it's normal ^^)

What the fuck shit donkeypenis? Is it really so important to you that you would spend so much just for a tattoo? Also, I have no idea what a japanese sleeve tattoo is. Post pics?

This is filler text.

Mad shit, nice tats, except maybe the celtic one for me. But perhaps that's my upbringing; everyone I know with a Celtic tattoo is real tacky.

Oh my shit, that is the most elegant and beautiful tattoo I have seen in a long time. I've never been a real big fan of Japanese style artwork, but that is truly fantastic.

Honestly why do people want to go out and do that to their own bodies? Seriously, I know sometimes it'll make them look cool but still, WTF.

The Japanese Sleeve Tattoos are definately amazing pieces of art, but the main problem for my situation is that 1. The Cost: $3000 to $5000 for the sleeve. 2. Marine Corps regulations won't let me get a full sized one anyways 3. That much ink sort of ruins the natural beauty of the human body anyways. I'm trying to get my body cut for when I go back home, and with that much ink on the skin, nobody would even be able to see my definition :(

Huge japanese sleeves are pretty overdone at this point, same with tribal arm bands. I'd recommend against it unless you will see yourself liking it 40-50 years down the road.

Pretty sick. I like the style of the chest tattoo. I think it looks really good. I'm actually going to the tattoo parlor tomorrow to get my tattoo drawn up, stenciled, etc. Hopefully I'll be able to book an appointment for the next Thursday.

Anyway, here's a little something I got a couple months back, that I feel the need to whore more pics of.

every time i go out to get a tattoo i never do. I can never really decide. I want something that means something to me. Not something that i will regret twenty years later. All my friends got Mario characters i think its dumb. I wanted the San Jose shark either on my hand or chest but if i do its gang related so thats thrown out. I really have no idea what i would get. In the end i bet i never will get one lol

Look up look down. Its all the same

I used to be the same way: I wanted a tattoo, but could never figure out what to get/ where to get it/ would I have regrets etc... Maybe this helps: 1. Will you regret the tattoo 50 years later when your skin starts to get old and saggy? A: 50 years from now you'll have old saggy skin that is not the greatest to look at anyways, the only difference is that you'll have saggy skin with tattoo instead of just saggy skin, big deal. 2. What to get? Something that symbolizes something about you/ your heritage, your passion etc... Some general guidelines are to never get cartoon characters/ names (especially girlfriends)/ or tattoos on your hands, neck, head etc...

Hah, wow. I got to love how that Celtic tattoo looks like it's combined with a tribal tattoo border.

Two stereotypical white guy tattoos in one.

Still, the Ares one is pretty awesome.

Also, I'd advise against getting a sleeve tattoo in Japan. Usually, the only ones that are tattooed are Yakuza and criminals.
Then again, you're going to be a US Marine gaijin in Japan, so you'll stand out a whole lot anyway.

Perhaps you could get one before you go back to the US or something?
I mean, if you want something that gorgeous, go for it.

You won't be able to enter most onsens (bathhouses) in Japanif you get ink done to yourself. It's not necessarily a rule but it's a taboo thing to have ink done because in Japan having ink done will make people assume you're with the yakuza.

As long as you got them in a place where your employers can't see them all is good.

Small ones look cool but the ones that take up an entire part of the body is idiotic, what's worse is the ones who get it just for the 'coolness' and not for something that means something special to that person. I want to get a tat but only a small one.

What are these chemicals in my head, that tell me I should be dead?
Cause no-one's this lucky not even the man, who won the lottery again and again.

Can't handle a little pain?

Okay, maybe not little, but it's still your fault for getting hurt.

Tattoo's are shit anyway.

Cool. But I'm thinking there are a lot more things you could do with 3000. Not against tattoos at all, just saying that is a little steep.

I think most are either to remember something or standout from the crowd*

* they want to stand out of a big crowd but the unless you're internationally a celebrity the best you should hope for is to stand out of a number of small crowd

Some think it looks cool and so they do it... not the kind of person who think things through ( or not in the state of mind )

I miss anything?

ah unless you're in a tribe (or type of family) or cult or you get one that will freak people out, or make them laugh... a few more reasons i think not that I think I'm ever getting one
