Which one's better? Or, probably a better question: which one would you prefer and why? Those who have tried each software for an aggregate amount of time equal to at least one day count as sufficiently authoritative sources in this case.

For the most part the 'why' will probably be based on whether the respondent runs a PC or Mac platform. If you've got a pc, unless you've turned it into a hackintosh (and god why would you do that) you're going to be running FL (Or reason or cubase or whatever else).

Kinda moot.

Neither is for both systems that I know of.

Logic is pretty CPU friendly when it comes to virtual instruments and samples using EXS24 and Kontakt 2-3

However a mac user running windows via bootcamp could use FL.

FLS is more pattern-based.

What does that mean? And are you trying to answer your own question?

FL is good for writing more loop type projects (not saying WITH loops, but with the tools they give you) it's known to be good for workflow, but there still is some shortcoming in the overall mixing/mastering plugins that it comes with.

Logic has some workflow flaws, but they aren't terrible. It pretty much wins in terms of what plugins and effects it comes with. It's kind of handy in the way you can freeze tracks, and how the VIs are delt with CPU wise.

It's also 64 bit, when it needs to be. EXS24 can load past the mem limit, and with snow leopard you can load more with other plugins if they are 32/64 compatible.

Agree and disagree about the loops part. You can write loops with it, but it is really for the purpose of making songs. Unless you are making a totally offbeat no specified rhythmic song (which would still be makeable on FL, and would not sound very enjoyable), FL is otherwise great.

Logic has WAY better synths, such as the es2.
The sampler, exs24, is also way better.
Comes with loads of plugins at a very good price, I recommend logic.

this is kind of a silly argument, since nearly everybody is going to be finding new synths at some point or another.

but WHY is it better?

but you're a mac user, so of course you do.

I haven't tried FL so I won't try to compare the two but don't you agree that it is indeed a large bonus when you get several great instrument and effect plug-ins with the price, so you don't have to buy a lot more stuff later?

Well sure, it's a nice bonus, but there's hundreds and thousands of great FREE plugins on the internet. Until you're looking for high-quality sample-based instruments, you barely need to buy anything. In my opinion, anyway.
