I too often get PM's from people asking about how I got my username.

It's not really fame but it still makes me feel special.

Things which could help:
If you have non-ms paint quality sigs, you might be more known. especially if they are non typical, or not just your name. It helps....
A memorable, or original username. If its catchty, it sticks too.
