Y'know its true when they say that, that grass always does feel greener on the other side.
In all life situations, people with low income envy the rich for their wealthy lifesyles, rich envy the poorer as they tend to lead happier lives.
People with born straight hair envy those born with curly hair and vise versa, but the saying can also be true to video games as well.
As people with a Nintendo Wii often wonder what it's like for the high definition gamers, people with Xbox 360 often wonder what it would be like if they had chosen PS3 instead, Those who grew up playing Nintendo often wonder how different their lives would have been like if they had been raised with Sega instead, and vise versa.
We all wonder these questions from time to time as the market we choose tends to lead us through drastic turns, keeping us ahead or behind the competition.

So what video game giants have you often wondered life would be like if you had stuck with them instead of the ones you chosen?

If I ever became a ganster, I wouldnt go anywhere without Spartan Armour and a freakin Mini-Gun, man! I gotta protect myself!

I grew up playing Super Nintendo and later Nintendo 64. I never played a Sega console when I was little. Sometimes I would play Playstation at my friends house, but that's it. There was a time, around 2001-2003 where I was a huge Nintendo fanboy which lead me to buy the Gamecube and I would just shun every other console.
I wonder what would've happened if my father had bought a Mega Drive back in the day. Nintendo really had a big impact on my life.
Also, username is a remnant of Mario fanboyism. Wade dont'nt care about the username problems of the small man.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.

So It IS true!! I grew up with Mega Drive and I too wonder if Nintendo would of had a big impact on my life if my dad had gotten me SNES instead!
I just had to make this thread to be sure.
I guess you must like Mario for the exact same reasons I like Sonic then! =P

I wish I would of kept masturbating instead of picking up a controller. Now I make goofy socially awkward faces without the pleasure.

Even worse I have to use two hands now

I have a PS3 and a Wii, so that grass is dead. I've played my friend's 360, didn't like it. I'd call that crabgrass.

Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had gotten a PS3, rather than my 360, actually. Still, I'm hoping to get a PS3 sometime in 2010. If it happens, sweet.

I wonder how long it would have taken me to commit suicide if I'd chosen Xbox instead of PS2 and Gamecube.

Meh, I'd probably end up being a boring guy with no friends in all reality.

Is that because the xbox is so full of awesome games that you would never leave your couch and have a social life?

Good choice then.

Hmm. I grew up with a N64 and a playstation, but I always wondered what that sega system would have been like.

As for the Wii, PS3, and 360 thing, I don't really care, I have a Wii, (Well technically the FAMILY has a Wii) and a PS3. Don't really like the xbox. All the stories of people having to buy 3 or 4 360s due to hardware failures really pushed me to buy a PS3.

i had a NES which my father had before me in my early days.
i grew up rescuing princesses, riding motorbikes and climbing mountains
but i never got either SNES, N64, Sega... NOTHING

instead i got a PS1 when it was new.
from there i played Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Rayman and other classics.
i often got the chance of trying out SNES, N64 and Sega though... but i never liked them...(until now)
but i couldn't let grip of the PS1, which made me buy a PS2 to continue what i started.

after some years with the PS2 i heard news about a new console from Nintendo: Revolution.
i thought Revolution would be cool, so i bought a GameCube to hook up Nintendo once again about a year before the release of Nintendo Revolution, soon known as the Wii.

i think that was the smartest move i ever did.
i was now playing Super Mario Sunshine, Zelda Wind Waker, Luigi's Mansion, Melee...

now i still got the PS2 and Wii. i don't think i want to hook up to the xBox, but maybe PS3 because of some good games i have to play xD
and with the Wii i could now check out those great titles for SNES, N64 and Sega which i kinda lost.

(even though i won't buy a xBox don't mean it's bad. i really like some of the games for it like Halo. but it's just not my kind of console)

Perhaps we can assume that our ideals were set, and certain appeals, or addictions lead to restrictions on what we perceive as adequate game-play? It's only until I did not buy a Playstation 2, but an Xbox lead me to jump on the Halo Bandwagon.

newer owned all the console's but it's always been a friend that had it, so i've pretty much played them all... except the virtualboy or whatever.. :p
and you might say, if you only tried it at a friend you wouldn't play as much games as if you owned it and ect...

but i've probably played as much games on the ps1 (which i didn't have at the time it came out) as i have on the N64 which i've had since release...

i've gotten my hands on a ps1 later, but mostly for the nostalgia :p

i think that the reason i chose PS2 instead of xBox is that i'm a huge fan of platform games such as Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Raccoon, Crash Bandicoot, Rayman and so on.
i get the feeling that the xbox is for those who is more into shoting games of any kind.
i just don't get entertained when i'm shooting people/things. (ok. sometimes)
the only shoting games i have really enjoyed to the max is Metal Gear Solid (and CS). but MGS isn't just a shoting game, it's a Tactical Espionage Action game where you can chose between killing everyone you see or just sneak around. i usaly sneak, but when i get unlimited ammo... x)

thats the 2 main reason i need to get a PS3 soon: Ratchet and Clank and Metal Gear Solid 4 and Rising.
also the rumors about Kingdom Hearts 3.

I always wish I had a 360 instead of a PS3, because that's where almost every game I've wanted has come out. (See, I like JRPG's, and all of those but like 2 have been 360 exclusive). Plus, I don't particularly enjoy either of the PS3 games I own (Fallout 3 and MGS4). I'd gladly trade it for a 360 with SO4 and Tales of Vesperia, instead.
But Microsoft is a money-whore, so that keeps me away anyways. (Besides, I have their best 'console'. PC!!!)

I had a Sega as a kid and loved the games like Sonic and Kid Chameleon... but my neighbor had an SNES and we were both jealous of each other. Ah good times as a kid... good good times!
