At least, that's what I think, but I just don't get how it's funny.

i've not seen the US version, but the whole point of the UK version is that everyone that has ever worked in some kind of office environment can relate to it.

I dont understand it either, on the American office I find Jim and Pam very annoying, they never have any emotion in their voices, all they do is tell jokes with a boring voice, now the UK Office, that's a fucking funny show.

I watched an episode of the (US) office... I have never been so bored in my life. The humor just seemed so forced. But whatever not everyone has the same sense of humor.

I don't think it's funny either.

There is no such thing as someone who doesn't like the PS3, there is only poor people who can't afford one. PS3 owners pity you and hope you can one day get out of poverty.

Best US Office Intro.

Not a good representation of the humor though since it is so over the top. Fucking hysterical nonetheless.

Like someone else said, the characters and situations are relatable for a lot of people. Sometimes the humor is tense and awkward, but most episodes are light and silly.

Alright so if you really can't find any trace of humour in The Office why don't you recommend some shows to us that are humorous.

I like it because it's thinking humor, and not "A FLYING FUCKING SHOE" type of humor.

Well I like family guy.

Nah, I'm kidding, I dunno just stuff, I don't watch much TV nowadays.
I watched a few episodes of the Community, that show is funny at parts.
I sometimes watch Psych, um, I dunno.
But for movies, I'd rather watch the Hangover than Napoleon Dynamite, or Zombieland over Juno, I guess if that shows my tastes.
Fuck I don't know I just watch something and know it's funny.

I've seen a few episodes. It's a pretty decent show that shows the crap the people in those kinds of office jobs have to put up with! Just like the movie "Office Space", but office space was better

I don't get it either. My best friend is hellbent on getting me to love it. I almost watched a full episode of it. I found it quite boring and uninteresting. I chuckled at one part. She said I'd just have to watch it from the beginning and grow a taste for it, so I'm gonna give it a try.

Awkward, dry humor. Some people like it, some people don't.

Myself, I enjoy it. But I can never seem to use dry humor in real life.

It isn't dry humor at all. It's more of a stagnant humor.

Quite frankly, it's a very simple-minded show, and most people are pretty simple-minded , so i guess that's where the appeal to the masses comes from.

I, personally don't find it funny at all. It gets old really fast. Every so often it'll have a kinda funny moment, but for the most part it's

Person 1: I just did something
Person 2: I am making a terrible attempt at a joke
Punchline: Awkward silence

It's terrible. I've only seen the American "The Office", so I'm basing my judgement solely on that. I just can't stand it.

If you haven't seen Steve Carrell staring at people through his office window, you haven't seen akward comedy.

its not for kids. plus some of the jokes are running jokes to where you have to know the characters.

I've watched multiple episodes of that show, and didn't grin once.

That show isn't funny at all.

I like the show. The UK version is a lot more reserved, whereas the US version seems all about the comedy. One thing I don't like about the US version of the show is Michael. In the UK show you can understand how David can work as a manager and still be a pathetic twat, whereas the US version, no one in their right mind would give Michael a regional manager's job because he's a pathetic, obnoxious child. And I've found his personality gets old real quick. If it weren't for the sub-plots going on around the show I'd probably hate it.

The English version is vastly better than the American one.

Whilst the US version isn't bad, the focus of the humour is removed from the traditional dry, embarrassing silences/tangents that established the format of the original, replaced instead with a more slapstick approach to cater to the American audience. I can see why the English version is received differently over the pond: our humour generally takes a polarising love-or-hate relationship with foreign people because it is a lot less obvious most of the time.

"Some of you seem to have got off on the wrong foot with me. You didn't like some of the jokes I told earlier. You've got to chill out, yeah, trust me, this is what I do, alright? You will never work in a place like this again. This is brilliant. Fact. And you will never have another boss like me. Someone who's basically a chilled out entertainer".

Why is The Office funny?

The British version is straight up fucking stupid. I watched it for about 15 minutes and did not even crack a smile.... except while thinking about how fucked up the guy's teeth are.

That's funny. I think the British version is much funnier and better than the American one.
