I am an Obama supporter, but he really hasn't done anything to deserve this. I think it's just the leaders of the world trying to make him look good to the public eye and win support from the more hating of people.

Congrats to Obama and everything, but I don't see what he's done yet that's deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize. We were told about this in school today, actually.

Obama is the current President of the United States and he has already accomplished a hell of a lot more than most of us will in our entire lives. He has only been in office for a little under 9 months, but he's known across the entire world, he has already signed a number of bills into law and he's issued a number of executive orders (most of which were at the beginning of his presidency, undoing many of Bush's decisions). So this "he's done nothing to deserve a Nobel Prize" argument won't fly. I actually considered the possibility that Obama would become a Nobel laureate for a long time. Now that he actually has the prize, it's going to give him a lot more leverage in pursuing whatever else he wants to do for the rest of his presidency.

Done a lot? Let's see:
Close Guantanamo Bay? Nope
Pull troops out of Iraq? Nope
Improve the situation in Afghanistan ? Nope
Reform health care in the US? Not yet
Get the Chicago Olympics? Nope

The only thing he had done that was peace worthy was trying to quell the situation between a white police officer and a Black Harvard Professor. There is still war in Afghanistan, hostility against Iran, and peace between Palestinians and Israel hasn't even been discussed.

Morgan Tsvangirai should have won the Nobel peace prize. He's been trying to promote long term peace in Zimbabwe while risking his life fighting against different factions to do it. Not to mention while trying to salvage his bankrupt country. I guess the noble prize has become more like the MTV awards more than anything now, where popularity is the only thing that matters.

This I agree with. However, it seems that there is very low support for the president right now which is never a good thing especially when he's trying to get things done as you you have listed off yourself. Giving the Nobel Prize to Obama could be very good to raising some credibility for him so that he can finally get things going with some support. You all say he's not getting anything done but how can a leader do anything without support from the people unless he goes to dictatorship.

Obama hasn't accomplished a goddamn fucking thing. This is absolutely ridiculous. All those "executive orders" you talk about gory are nonexistent. He's failed to back up every point he used to get into office, WORSENED relationships with Iran, and of course, his international sway was shown to us very clearly when he spent several million dollars of U.S. money to fly his family and shit to denmark and get DEAD FUCKING LAST in the olympic bid. He is an absolute failure, and I'm not even republican.

But I don't feel it was worth the nobel price that much.

Martin Luther King Jr. was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Obama is not even half the man Luther was and the fact that Obama was awarded the prize almost makes the award itself a joke.
