SOrry for double posting, but I should correct something in my last post. It sort of sounds like I think Obama was the worst possible choice for some reason. This is not the case, he was good choice, but it was very premature.
- He has signed a bill for nuclear disarmament, which will certainly significantly reduce the ammount of nuclear weapons in the world. If the large nations dismrm, the rest will surely follow.
- He is the first president of the United States to actually take cliamte change seriously. The previous position of the US on climate change has been an excuse for so many nations in the world not to do anything and this is certainly a good step forward.
But I keep coming back to the fact that he hasn't done very much, he's only quite promising. And intent without real results is not enough to be rewarded a nobel prize.
Bottom line: Obama is a good choice, but it was very premature.
