NASA plans to fire a booster rocket from one of it's satellites into the moon. Therefore, NASA plans to take readings of the explosion by using infrared detectors to find water in the subsurface. I think this mission will be a great success in science.

You can go and click here to discover if your near one of the public events.

Or, if want to watch it live on your computer you can click the next link, below.
LIVE separation coverage starts 9:40 p.m. EDT (6:40 p.m. PDT).

I may be up to watch it, honestly, I rather sleep during the morning time.

I wish I could have been there at that NASA meeting...

Aw, you disappointed me. i was expecting some lacrosse sex, but I was mistaken. Of course watching someone blow the moon up is just as satisfying.

Why the fuck are they even doing this. I mean let's say they do find water, then what? Seriously we have plenty of fucking water here on Earth, we don't need no dirty moon water. God made the moon to look pretty not to be drunken from. I guess we could give it to poor people in impoverished countries or whatever.

It will be the 21st intentional man-made impact into the moon. Just like this is the 20th time this thread has been made!

You know what, i was just thinking the same exact thing.

Why would they be giving us a countdown...using notepad lol?

Also, did anyone else hear them say something about encountering a new type of something or other during lift off? Sounds pretty dangerous to me.

You know what? They should start using the moon for weapons testing. Even though it would be expensive.

Well we were dumb enough to think it was gonna happen.

I'm pretty sure my teacher said it was 6:30 EST, can someone clarify on this

It will hit and we will all go about our lives like we would any other day.

I wonder what will happen if we find other planets that are habitable, or if technology reaches a point where the people can just go into space, and society or industry can thrive in space. Right now, space is declared as neutral, I think, because there isn't much anyone can do with it, and the advancements that one finds in exploring and studying it would seem better to benefit all nations - but I imagine as soon as people land on another planet, it's going to bring rise to another era of imperialism.

In the same vein, it's weird to think that sometime in the future, somebody may "own" the moon or something, or at least land on the moon.
