Ok i was wondering what the best way to draw a sword in flash? ive tried with the paint brush tool and i just cant perfect it to the way i want. Now my flash is all drawn with the paint brush, I see that no one likes the line tool or the pencil tool and i figure they would be better the draw a sword with. My question here is should i use the line and pencil tool or the paint brush?

It all depends on your style. I usually don't use the paintbrush tool so much, unless I'm doing simple frame by frame animation, so I would personally use the line tool and snap them together to make a shape, then fill it in with a color of my choice.
Could you describe why you don't like the paintbrush version of your sword? Perhaps it has an art style you don't want (exaggerated, realism, etc.) or perhaps you don't like the lighting?
What other tools are you using? Filters? Gradients? Your best bet is to post a picture of your 'crappy' sword and we can give you advice on what's wrong with it and what to fix.
If I offer to help you in a post, PM me to get it. I often forget to revisit threads.

I personally would use the paintbrush. It gives a nice effect if you have around 30 - 50 smoothing on.

It's really up to you, and what you use the most.

Idk I whipped these things up, they're not like god swords like Matt-Likes-Swords
but if you're going for a cartoony look, you're more than welcome to use these.
Short Sword Daggers Long Sword Ehhh.
Post a picture of what you're going for to get better feedback.
These were done flash at 200% zoom, and brush, nothing more. (Using a Tablet)

Basically the line tool is the best tool to use to make swords, try to examine actual pictures of swords and the way the light reflects off each type of metal then try to recreate swords you know and eventually you'll get better and better at drawing a swords anatomy. Take mine for a example.

you need more detail
unless youre making the flash tweened
in which case more detail would complicate things
unless youre good at tweening
i sure am not
I will cut your lips and tongue from your head with a... LINOLEUM KNIFE!

Either use line tool or zoom in to 130+ % and draw it with the brush tool. Zooming makes it look smoother when zoomed out, and you don't have to deal with the annoying auto smoother that flash gives. It can make a straight line curved and vice versa....
Remember to make effects when the sword is in action, it looks a lot cooler.
Example:
Ghost fight

Yeah, the sword slashes, blurs and all that are important and can make any stick fight 1000x better

Your sword designs look epic. How long does it take you to design a sword, normally???
